Perhaps I never should have replied in this group in the first place,
but now that I have my credibility questioned, I feel I have to. . .
First things first-since you so freely question my credibility
perhaps someone should challenge your credibility. You know who I am
and what I do-we know you only as "anonymous disturbed fan." As I
said before, the Grizzlies do NOT set the salary cap or limits-the
league does. You seem to understand this, but still want to raise the
argument of what salaries are. As for your comment about none of the
players making the league max: it is not for me to comment on what
players make what money (I do NOT know most of the players'salaries)
I will say perhaps you should check your facts more closely. On your
question as to whether or not I would trade my salary in the summer
for what the players make: again I would ask you to check your facts.
You do not know what I make, and I will tell you only that if you
broke my salary down by hour you would see that NOBODY is getting
rich here. I however, like the players, knew what I was getting into.
I, like MOST of the players, are happy to be a part of the finest
organization in the FL. I am happy to be in baseball and broadcasting
just as most of these players are happy to be playing baseball. If
any of the players are unhappy with their situations they are free to
leave. Please remember each player is given a place to live for the
summer, meal money on road trips (it isn't much but I get it too) And
the finest booster club in the league that provides these players
with food and comforts that most of the folks in and around the
league never see. I assure you there are much worse things than being
a FL player for a summer. As Mr. Bergheger pointed out, this IS a
developmental league. Quite a few of these guys would not be playing
pro ball if it weren't for the FL. While I fully agree with your
right to question the salary structure in the league as a whole, I do
not appreciate you questioning the way the Grizzlies treat their
players and certainly don't appreciate you challenging my credibility.
"Not so anonymous disturbed broadcaster."
