FUESS' BLAST LIFTS GRIZZLIES OVER KALAMAZOO
Brian Fuess launched a two-out, three-run home run in the top half of the
seventh inning to lift the Grizzlies to a 6-4 win at Kalamazoo Saturday night.
The Grizzlies improve to 39-28 on the season. Kalamazoo drops to 25-43.
The Grizzlies took the lead 1-0 when Phil Warren scored on an error. Kalamazoo
went up 4-1 before the Grizzlies scored a couple in the sixth on a two-out
two-run single by Ben Piatt, that made it 4-3, and set up Fuess' homer in the
seventh.
Piatt was 2-4 with the two RBIs. Fuess was 1-5 with the three-run shot.
Pete Buck went six-plus innings for the win. He struck out six and is now 8-6.
Dave Klahs pitched two near-perfect innings in relief. Klahs struck out four,
and the only base runner came on an error. Dan Smith pitched the ninth, striking
out two, for his 11th save of the season.
The Grizzlies and Kings finish the brief two-game series with a 4:35 game Sunday
afternoon. Tune in on the Grizzlies radio network beginning at 4:30 p.m.
