GRIZZLIES DROP FIRST TO ROOSTERS
The Gateway Grizzlies dropped the first of a two-game series to the Richmond
Roosters Thursday night 4-3 in Richmond, IN.
The Grizzlies drop to 38-27. Richmond improves to 39-28.
The Grizzlies took the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning on a
two-run double by Kevin Matuszek. Richmond answered with two in the fith and
another two in the sixth to lead 4-2.
Brian Fuess made it interesting in the ninth. With two outs, Fuess launched his
first home run as a Grizzlie to straight away right to make it 4-3. That is
close as the Grizzlies would get.
Fuess was 3-4 on the night with the home run and a pair of singles. He also
reached on a walk and an error. Wayne Astrauskas was 2-4 on the night.
Brian Matzenbacher took the loss in relief, going one inning allowing a pair of
runs on three hits. He walked two. He is now 0-1.
Joe Dooley started and went 4 2/3 innings. He allowed a pair of runs on five
hits.
The Grizzlies and Roosters continue the series with a 6:35 game Friday in
Richmond.
