Heartbreaking loss. We were sitting just a few feet away from where
the winning homerun ball was hit in the 14th. Still a great night at
the ball park.
RECORD CROWD SEES GRIZZLIES FALL IN 14 INNINGS
The Gateway Grizzlies dropped their fifth game in a row Friday 4-2 in
14 innings in front of a franchise-record crowd of 5,357 at GMC
Stadium. The Grizzlies drop to 18-16. The Rascals are now 16-21.
The Grizzlies and Rascals traded runs in each of the first four
innings. Phil Warren tied the score at 2 with his fourth home run of
the season. Warren was 1-6 with the home run. Eric Archer picked up
an RBI on a sacrifce fly.
It remained tied until the top half of the 14th. Rascals outfielder
Michael Conner hit his seventh home run of the season-a two run shot
that put the Rascals ahead for good.
Michael Golden took the loss in relief, pitching the final three
innings. He gave up the home run. He struck out three. He is now 0-2.
Scott Patterson started and went eight innings allowing two runs, one
earned on eight hits. He struck out nine. Dan Smith also pitched
three innings. He did not allow a run, gave up no hits, and struck
out four.
The Grizzlies and Rascals will finish out the Sonic Crosstown Clash
series with a 6:05 start on Saturday night at GMC Stadium. Tickets
