GO Skateboarding - Go Old-school Skateboarding is the virtual meeting place for Old School Skateboarders in South East Queensland Australia.
The vision for this site is to act as place where people who were born over 30 years ago and have an interest in skateboarding can share thoughts and information about this interest. Most importantly it is a place were we can arrange skate sessions.
While targeted at the over 30's, anyone who has a genuine interest in Old School Skateboarding may join in.
Arguably the most significant development in skateboarding in South East Queensland was the opening of the Ashmore Bowls back in 1979. Now buried next to the existing BMX track - the facility featured two connecting bowls, one 4 foot deep the other 9 foot. Back in the day, it was THE place to skate and attracted skaters from northern NSW and Brisbane.
As of late December 2008 the GC has three new facilities - Elanora bowl and fullpipe, Varsity street plaza and bowls and the Nerang bowls and parklands.
Go to the links section for more about Ashmore and the old GC skate scene.
Any visitor to the site can read messages, but only members can post messages. Drop into GO Skateboarding and start posting!
