DELOITTE WORK DAY - GHORBA has been asked to help lead a huge volunteer day at
Memorial Park on Friday, October 8th. Approximately 100 volunteers will descend
on MP to assist with trail work and removal of invasive vegetations species.
GHORBA will be supplying trail stewards to help lead the trail work efforts that
day. GHORBA representatives are working with the MP Trails Committee to lay out
work projects for the day. We are looking forward to being a integral part of
this work day at Memorial. (FYI: Deloitte is a large accounting firm in
Houston).

OLN and GHORBA? - The Outdoor Life Network (cable channel) contacted GHORBA
late last week and asked if we would be interested in working with them to film
a mountain biking spot for their Top 25 Urban Adventures show. Six GHORBA
members met with 2 cameramen for two hours and filmed footage of riding around
Memorial Park (location at their request). Three members were interviewed about
riding in Houston (all trail systems were mentioned and described), GHORBA's
fall race, our kids' program, and the cycling community in Houston. The
response about the footage has been very positive so far. If approved, our spot
will air in early October. Stay tuned!!!

NATIONAL TRAILS SYSMPOSIUM - AUSTIN - GHORBA board members Jamie Hendrixson and
Christina Case have been asked to give a presentation on our kids' program at
the National Trails Symposium, which is happening October 21-24th in Austin.

proud to be given the opportunity to brag about the great work GHORBA volunteers
have done over the last 2 years working with kids in Houston and Huntsville.
Our presentation will be one of three presentations on getting children active
and into the outdoors. Other presentations will be given by the National Park
Service and the Third Ward Bike Center (here in Houston).

HUNTSVILLE CLASSIC RACE - The Huntsville Classic Race, one of the biggest
mountain bike races in Texas, is happening the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd at
Huntsville State Park. Bike Lane is organzing the race and has always put on a
first class event. This course is great for everyone! Free kids' races are
held on Saturday as part of the Kids Kup (sponsored in part by Shimano). Adult
and scored kids' races are on Sunday, October 3rd. To learn more:
