The Christmas Lights Ride was a success! We had 129 riders and raised about
$500 for the HPD Blue Santa Program!! The lights were great, and the weather
true to Houston winters, nice and chilly! Thank you to everyone who came out
and gave to support the HPD children's cycling education and safety program!
Your dollars will go to provide bikes and helmets to kids around Houston!

TRAIL BUILDING AT SFA: GHORBA is sponsoring the second General work party at
Stephen F. Austin State Park Saturday December 20th at 9am. Stephen F. Austin
is a brand new venue that is being developed by GHORBA and the State Park. We
will be moving material, installing bench cuts, install armoring. Bring shovels,
water, safety gear, lunch and sports drink. We will work til about noon or 1 or
as late as you want to. There are paydirt points available. Hinze's Bar B Q in
Sealy has been chosen as the official feed zone for the trail workers at SFA.

Directions to the park are I-10 near Sealy. The town of San Felipe is just east
of Sealy. San Fleipe Exit FM1458 (I think the sign for the park on I-10 got
knocked down) There is Knox truck stop. Head north on FM 1458 till you see a
sign for the park. Turn left on Park Road 38. If you hit the Brazos river you
have gone too far.

GROUP RIDE AT HUNTSVILLE: Need to get out of the house after the holidays??
Have a new bike that is begging to be used?? Bring your bike and yourself to
Huntsville State Park on Saturday, December 27th to do a couple of laps and work
off the Christmas treats! We will ride at 9:00 a.m., so try to get to the park
a little early. Beginners to experts welcome...there is a group for everyone.
Directions: Take I-45 north towards Huntsville. Just before you get to the town
of H-ville look for the statue of Sam Houston and the sign for the park entrance
(approx. 46 miles from downtown Houston). Take a left and go back under the
highway into the park. We will leave from the interpretive center just inside
the gate.
