HUNTSVILLE TRAIL WORK: Don't forget about helping with bridge building at
Huntsville State Park tomorrow morning. We'll be building the 65' bridge
with materials REI donated to GHORBA. Work starts at 9:00 a.m. and should
conclude around noonish. We'll have drinks and snacks for your pleasure.
Bring some gloves and a hammer. To get to Huntsville, take 45N
approximately 50 miles. Look for the statue of Sam Houston and take the
exit. Go west under the freeway and follow the road into the park. Check
in at the ranger station by signing the volunteer log under GHORBA and then
proceed to the Interpretive Center just beyond the ranger station.

JACK BROOKS: The next scheduled meeting concerning trail improvements will
take place on Sunday, February 16, at Kenny J's coffee shop on Nasa Road
One and Kirby at 5:30pm. We will discuss what things need to be repaired
and how to go about it. Weather permitting, we will schedule dates to
clear the trails and repair damaged areas. We hope to see everybody on
Sunday afternoon.

ALLEN PARKWAY HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL: Please note that the national cross
country running championships are tomorrow and may interfere with your
ability to ride the paved trail along the south side of the bayou.

ROCKY HILL RACE: Kids Kup races are on Saturday, and the TMBRA series
races are on Sunday (www.tmbra.org). If you've never been there before and
want to watch or race, take I-10 west to Columbus. Just past Columbus,
take Hwy 71 west towards Austin. You will go about 45 miles to Smithville.
Take the 2nd or 3rd exit in Smithville (the exit for Beucher State Park)
and head northeast. Rocky Hill Ranch is about 1/2 mile past the park
entrance on your left.

TUNIS-ROUBAIX RACE: Texas A&M is hosting a road race this Saturday with
USCF categories in the afternoon. Collegiate races will be taking place in
the morning. This is the 5th year of this event and has become a staple on
the collegiate race circuit. It is famous as a bit of a hard race, with a
variety of road surfaces, including a couple of non-paved sections. Here's
a link to the flyer with the info:

RIDING CLINIC: Due to lovely wet, cold conditions on the 8th, we have
rescheduled the riding clinic for Saturday, February 22nd at 9:00 a.m.
Please meet in the grassy area between the soccer and softball field
parkings lot on the south side of Memorial Park. You must have a helmet
and sign a liability release form. The clinic is FREE and should last
about 3 hours. We will have both beginner and experienced sections of the
clinic.

MONDAY NIGHT RIDE: Weather permitting, a group rides every Monday night at
Memorial Park. If the trails are wet, an urban street ride is substituted
and is a lot of fun. We leave no later than 6:15, so please come a little
early to get your equipment together. Bring lights and your helmet.
