First of all, I want to congratulate Steffi Penco for her first place
finish in the solo category at the 24-hour of Rocky Hill! I'd also like to
congratulate Gary Strouz for his 5th place finish in the solo category,
especially given that Gary normally races beginner! Both riders eeked out
10 laps despite weather conditions that were not fit for man or beast!!!
Congratulations also go out to everyone else who was crazy enough to ride.

HUNTSVILLE TRAIL WORK: Sunday, November 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
More announcements to follow.

MONTHLY MEETING: Monday, November 11th at JAX Grill from 7:00 p.m. to
8:15. Social hour to follow. JAX is located between Shepherd and Durham
just south of I-10. Please arrive early so we can start the meeting at
7:00!

ANT HILLS WORK DAY: A work day is tentatively scheduled for Saturday,
November 16th. Details forthcoming.

RIDING CLINIC AND FAMILY PICNIC: Sunday, November 17th at Memorial Park.
Cost and details are the same as the last clinic. $20 for GHORBA members,
and $25 for nonmembers. We will also be having a concurrent family picnic
with events for individuals and children not taking the clinic. We will be
sending out a flyer with all of the details, so please mark your calendars.

GROUP RIDE AT DOUBLE LAKE: Sunday, November 24th from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Double Lake is a great beginner trail and a super place to train for a
race. Please join us! Double Lake is located in the Sam Houston National
Forest in Cold Spring, TX. Take 59 north to FM 2025. Take FM 2025 west
approx. 16 miles until you see the Double Lake Recreation Area entrance on
your right. If you get to Cold Spring, you've gone too far. Once inside
the park, take the left at the Y in the road and follow it to the end until
you see the lake. The trail head is on your left near the shower building.
We will ride promptly at 9:15 a.m.

GHORBA/BIKEHOUSTON HOLIDAY CELEBRATION: GHORBA and BikeHouston have
reserved St. Arnold Brewery for Monday, December 9th to celebrate the
holidays and this year's many accomplishments. The party begins at 6:30 pm
and lasts until 9:30 pm. The charge will be between $4 -$5 and will cover
the cost for food and beverages, both alternative and the fermented kind.
GHORBA will be handing out awards to the many volunteers who have completed
trail work on Houston's trails, so please make plans to attend (we will
contact you specifically if you are to receive an award). We will also be
inviting the bike shops who have supported GHORBA's efforts over the last
year: West End, Westside Schwinn, BikeLane, Bikesport, Sun and Ski,
Boones, Planetary, and Cyclone. Lastly, bring your best crash story for
our annual competition!!!!

JERSEYS: We still have about 15 GHORBA jerseys left for sale. Please let
one of the board members know if you are interested in purchasing one.
They are $50. The proceeds from the jerseys goes towards purchasing tools
and materials for trail work, in addition to purchasing food to feed our
volunteers.....a cause well worth it!
