MASTER PLAN MEETING: The GHORBA monthly meeting will be attending the
Master Plan Meeting #2, and NOT at Jax Grill. The meeting starts at 7:00
pm and ends at 9:30. The meeting will be held at St. Theresa's Catholic
Church across from Beck's Prime and the MP golf course. Please make plans
to attend, listen, and ask questions, as this is the first look at the
consultants' proposed view of the trail systems at Memorial. There is one
more meeting before the plan is to be submitted to City Council for
approval (by the end of the year)...once approved, this plan is set in
stone for the foreseeable future. Note: The October GHORBA meeting will
be back at Jax Grill.

TRAIL WORK MEMORIAL PARK: We will be doing trail work at Memorial Park
this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm. We will supply drinks, light
food, tools (if you don't have any), and dirt. Please bring your gloves,
bug spray, water bottle, and enthusiasm. We will meet in the parking lot
just west of the softball fields near the trail head and soccer field. We
will be tracking hours for PayDirt and for GHORBA year-end trail work
awards, so please sign in and out. We are also happy to welcome members of
the running community to our trail work day!

TRAIL WORK HUNTSVILLE: Saturday, Sept. 14th from 9:00 am to noon. We will
supply drinks, BBQ, Clif Bars, tools (if you don't have any), and dirt.
Please bring your gloves, bug spray, water bottle, and enthusiasm. We will
be working on the last reroute before the race and plan to ride after
lunch. We will also be tracking hours for PayDirt and for GHORBA year-end
trail work awards, so please sign in and out. The trails are starting to
really look good, and the park appreciates our work. Thanks again for
everyone's dedication and much-needed sweat equity! Future work parties
will hopefully have use of a small trail dozer to repair the erosion on the
Dogwood nature trail at the park. Huntsville State Park is approximately
45 miles north of Houston on I-45. Look for the Sam Houston statue and
Huntsville State Park exit - take the exit and head west until you get to
the ranger station. We will leave from the Interpretive Center just past
the ranger station.

TRASH PICK-UP ANT HILLS: Saturday, Sept. 21st from 9:00 a.m. to noon. We
are working with Harris County Flood Control and Harris County Parks to
conduct a trash pick-up day on the off-road trails near Terry Hershey Park.
We will leave from the north parking lot just west of Eldridge and Memorial
Drive. Trash bags have been graciously supplied by HCFC. We will ride
afterwards, so consider bringing your bike.

MONTHLY RIDE: We will ride at Double Lake Recreation Area on Sunday, Sept.
22nd at 9:00 a.m. until whenever. To get to Double Lake, take 59 north to
Cleveland. Take the FM 2025 exit going to Cold Spring. Go approximately
16 miles west. The entrance to the park will be on your right. If you get
to Cold Spring, you've gone too far. Once inside the park, turn left at
the "Y" in the road (past the ranger station). Follow the road to the end.
The trail head leaves from the furthest parking area near the showers. We
typically eat at a restaurant afterwards. This is a great beginner course
and a really fast, fun training course for those who are more experienced.
