Lots going on this month.....

ELECTIONS: Monday, June 10th at 7 pm. Jax Grill on Shepherd just south of
I-10. Please be on time so we can have the meeting and get elections over
with in a relatively timely fashion. Still looking for people interested
in running for Public Relations, Fundraising, Webmaster, and Secretary.

SATURDAY, JUNE 8TH TREE PLANTING AT THE TERRY HERSHEY PARK/ANT HILLS - From
8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Several GHORBA members from the west side of
Houston are going to participate in the tree planting events for Terry
Hershey Park. If you are interested in participating, meet at Terry
Hershey Park in the parking lot on north side of Memorial Drive just west
of Eldridge.

SATURDAY JUNE 15TH HUNTSVILLE STATE PARK TRAIL WORK - From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(if you want to get started earlier, there will be people beginning at 7:30
to beat the heat). When you arrive, sign in at the ranger station so
credit is given to the riders for doing trailwork. Meet at the wall near
the interpretive center. We will be doing repairs to some of the bridges,
completing a reroute, and installing rolling grade dips (water bars) to
divert water off the trails. 10 - 15 volunteers are needed. We have
permission to use mechanized equipment to move dirt. If you have a
4-Wheeler & trailer, please bring them for hauling dirt, Ice Cold Drinks,
and wheelbarrows to the various work sites. WE WILL FEED YOU!!! FYI:
this is Houston's only race venue, so please consider helping....Allison
took alot out of the trails and the Parks Service doesn't have the
personnel to fix everything.

SUNDAY, JUNE 23RD RIDE CLINIC - GHORBA is hosting another ride clinic for
beginners. The cost is $25 per person and will be held at Memorial Park.
We will teach bike basics: balancing, going over obstacles, bunny hopping,
shifting, etc. Class size is limited to 25 people - kids are welcome with
an accompanying adult. We are planning to have 3-4 instructors so the
student/instructor ratio is lower. If you are intersted in attending,
email Steffi at stef_babe1@.... Checks should be written to GHORBA.
This money will be used to pay for lumber for bridge repairs, etc.

SATURDAY, JUNE 29TH MEMORIAL PARK TRAIL WORK - From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We're
going to finish constructing rolling grade dips (water diversion) on the
trails using the soil the Parks Dept. supplied near Call-out and the
entrance to the Orange Trail. Bring shovels. WE WILL FEED YOU!

****We're not trying to kill everyone with trail work this summer, but we
do have a lot to do on the trails around town. Please consider helping
with at least one of these trail work days....these are YOUR trails and
they need your lovin touch.
