As many of you know, I attended the International Mountain Bicycling
Association's Trail Summit in Moab, Utah on behalf of GHORBA this past
weekend. There were over 200 attendees there from all over the world. The
weekend was truly remarkable for so many reasons. The people, the
information, the committment, and the enthusiasm. All of it an inspiration
to our sport and favorite past-time. I attended classes and forums put on
by other attendees, government officials, the Sierra Club, industry
representatives, and other bicycling advocacy organizations (Bike America,
Bikes Belong Coalition, etc.). I could barely lift my brief case from all
of the good information I obtained! I will be sharing this information
with you all over the next several weeks and months. I've learned about
grants, what type there are, how to get them, and what they're used for.
I've learned about North Shore standards for free-riding and trials...will
need some your help to get this one going at Rio Bravo! I've gotten
fundraising ideas, new trail development ideas, etc. I've also met so many
people we can contact with questions, problems, and ideas.
Most importantly I've come back with a really good idea of where we/GHORBA
should be headed, what we can accomplish, and hopefully how to get there.
I want all of you to know that I'm committed to getting us to the next
level. But, at the same time, I'm also going to be looking to all of you
to help GHORBA get there. We have a tremendous amount of potential that
we've only just tapped. Be looking for much more information to be coming
your way over the next couple of weeks!
