riding skills clinic this spring. The date is yet to be set, but
instruction will be conducted by four or five instructors rather than two

q Jerseys ? Mark Wise ? Pick your's up or buy one today.
q Illegal Trails and Rio Bravo ? Phillip Niccum ? As many of you have seen
on the GHORBA website or via emails you may have been sent, there has been
accelerated illegal trail building activity at Memorial Park. The builders
of the bridges in the Triangle were identified and given the opportunity to
remove their work. GHORBA will be going back in to clean up the area.
Given that this activity is not likely to cease due to increased traffic
and lack of legitimate trail space, it was discussed that Rio Bravo might
be the best option to give an outlet to this type of trail building. Rio
Bravo already allows a "dangerous" sport, requires waivers, has insurance,
and is interested in new mountain biking trails on the remainder of the
property. This property may be well suited to a well-built free-ride or
North Shore course. Phillip is putting together a recon team to visit the
site in the next two weeks.
q Jack Brooks ? Garth McCann ? GHORBA received confirmation that we will be
working with the Galveston Parks Department in designing/revamping the
trail system in Jack Brooks Park. The Parks Director would like to create
beginner and intermediate loops, correct problem areas, etc. Garth and
John Verinder will set the schedule for walk-throughs and trail work. John
is getting volunteers together for work parties this spring and summer. If
you are interested, he can be reached at: k2zedx@...
q Memorial Park Master Plan Proposal ? Christina Case ? Draft is being
worked on. Proposal includes expansion into The Triangle and The Archery
Range, as well as a new beginner loop on the south side of Memorial Drive
using some existing flat trails.
q March Group Ride ? Ant Hills March 23rd at 9:30 a.m. leaving from north
parking lot.
