The IMBA Trail Care Crew will be visiting Austin this next weekend. I
would highly recommend attending one of the day's events if you can get
away.

Subject: Trail Care Crew visit
to Austin

Christina--I have attached the press release for the crew visit. The
meeting you would probably want to attend is not explained in detail there.
It will be a visit to the Slaughter Creek tract of the Proposition 2 lands.
That piece of property is in the southwest part of Austin off of hwy. 1826.
I can give you exact details on how to get there, let me know where you
will be staying, or if you are coming in that morning if you are coming in
on 71 or 290.
The prop 2 lands were acquired with city of Austin bond funds in the last
three years. The tract we will be reviewing is over 550 acres. It is the
first opportunity for us to lay out trails on prop 2 lands (there are six
properties with trail potential) so it is very important that we do it
correctly the first time. Joey Klein was a trail care crew member for the
past two seasons but is now working for IMBA in a consulting role. He is
one of the best trail lay-out specialists and is a wealth of knowledge re
trails, trail building and maintenance. We will be walking the property
from 9am to 3pm to assess its potential for trails and to determine how to
build on some tricky slopes. The overriding priority is to protect water
quality, the reason the city acquired the land.
I hope you can make it, it will be worth your time if you want to learn
more about trails. Hill
