We are having the December GHORBA meeting tonight at Spaghetti Western at 7
pm. SW is on Shepherd south of I-10 across from Jax Grill. We will be
inside tonight since it's a little chilly. Bring your best crash-n-burn
story....prizes for best stories....Christmas mountain biking style.
Thought about having a White Elephant bum bike parts gift exchange, but I
knew all of you have an attachment to your old, crappy bike parts.... :)
Also, Ryan and crew are doing the weekly Monday night ride leaving from
Memorial Park and riding into downtown. The ride leaves at 5:30 pm and
returns about 6:45 just before the meeting. Bring your lights. The
Olympic Torch is supposed to come through downtown today/tonight, and the
group will try to catch it as it goes by.
Steffi is putting together a Christmas Lights ride for Wednesday, December
19th through River Oaks. The ride will leave from West End (time TBA).
She is also talking to Clear Channel Communications (The Buzz, 96.5, etc.)
to get some radio advertising coverage. Clear Channel Communications may
give us some coverage, as they sponsor the Santa Letters program, which any
funds we raise would benefit. The minimum donation is $5 for each rider.
Stay tuned for more information.
Double Lake was beautiful yesterday....dry, too. Northwest Cycling and
some GHORBA members completed 3 hours of trail work at the National Forest
fixing erosion problems and clipping branches, then everyone road for about
4 hours. Keep your ears open for more trail work opportunities at Memorial
Park and Jack Brooks in January.
