Valley trail
repair and ride -UPDATE




Hey everybody!


I wanted to remind you of the upcoming event at Dino Valley.


A fun trail repair party and ride expedition spanning across Texas cities
(Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio) is taking place this coming
weekend in Dino Valley State Park. Dinosaur Valley State Park is 5 minutes
from Glen Rose (South of Fort Worth) and 20 minutes from Cleburne State
Park.


The general idea is to camp in Dino Valley during the weekend and alternate
riding with trail repair, partying and resting. Some of us will be heading
over to Dino Valley on Friday night, some will join early Saturday morning.


The event is kindly made possible thanks to Shawn, the Park Ranger Manager
at Dino Valley who offered to trade entry fees and reduced camping fees
(about $1/person per 8 people camp site) in exchange for trail work. I
also managed to obtain permission to make this work counts towards paydirt
points for the Spring 2002 season. So, please bring your paydirt forms (
www.tmbra.org) -I'll have extra, but you never know how many we'll need ...


This is a great opportunity to ride wonderful trails, enjoy spectacular
nature settings, see the famous dino tracks for ever impressed in limestone
and give back to the parks that so kindly host us MTbikers. And you get
your paydirt points too! :-)


On Saturday and Sunday we'll join forces with Dorba for a huge group ride
in Dino Valley and Cleburne State Park. This is a great opportunity for
many of us to see our racing buddies and swap scar stories ...


However, you don't have to do trail repair work to join in the ride and fun
-but you'll have to pay the normal park and camping fees- or you don't have
to bike if you don't feel like it -like that's gonna happen!


The trail work is mostly going to be focusing on trimming trees and
branches. Please bring hand saws of different sizes, sheers, cutters,
axes, showels, rakes, etc. The park has a few extra tools, but they don't
have enough for everyone, so please to make sure you have our own gear.


I suggest bringing gardening gloves and a small cooler filled with your
favorite drinks and ice. This time of the year the weather is really
pleasant, but you don't want to risk dehydrating while on the trail.


So far we have a few people confirmed for this wonderful adventure. I
would like to have a rough head count as soon as possible, so I can tell
Shawn how many camp sites to reserve for us.


As soon as I have an idea of who is going, I will begin making carpooling
and carovaning arrangements.
