| -- Reminder to those interested in bicycle safety, Texas Bicycle |
| Coalition members and supporters have until Oct. 15 to submit written |
| comments to the Texas Department of Transportation on preliminary rules |
| for the Safe Routes to Schools, or SRS, portion of the Matthew Brown |
| Act. |

| The Texas Bicycle Coalition wrote and sponsored the Matthew Brown Act, |
| which contains the legislative mandate for the creation of safe bicycle |
| and pedestrian routes to schools throughout the state. A public hearing |
| on the first set of proposed SRS rules was held Sept. 19 in Austin. For |
| a look at the preliminary rules, access the TBC Web site at |
| biketexas.org. |
