As stated earlier in the meeting minutes, GHORBA is helping with the
Huntsville Kids Cup on Saturday, Sept. 29th. Please consider volunteering.
See the description below and let me know what you would like to do. We
have about 6 volunteers already, but we need twice that.
Thanks!!

HI Christina,
Thanks for your email. We will need a fairly easy course for the kids to
race. Same place as last year would be great. Also, if you have an area
where an obstacle course could be set up, that would be great. Nothing
hard,
just a few small logs to bunny hop over, etc. We will run registration
from
our team pit area. Last year the ShowTeam set up just in front of the
little
museum there by registration. If we could do the same this year, that
would
be great. We faced the street so it would be easy for parents to see us
for
registration.
We will have T-shirts for all the kids and a medal for everyone who
finishes.
If you could get a local sponsor to supply Gatorade or powered for the
kids
that would be great too. Based on other races we plan for 30-40 but
usually
have about 1/2 of that.
I will need 1 or 2 folks to help with registration from 12pm forward.
About
1pm, we'd like to start with a nature walk. If you have a volunteer who
could lead that I'd really appreciate it. Perhaps a park ranger? Needs to
be about 20 minutes. After that, we will discuss bike safety (especially
helmet safety) and check bikes for basic maintenance. If an obstacle
course
is available, we will run the kids on that, then go to the race. Some of
our
ShowTeam riders will lead the kids out for each age group. Volunteers will
be needed to help hand out medals, praise the kids for a great job and pass
out any other swag there may be. Sounds like you have enough volunteers to
help with scoring and starting races too. Entire event should be over no
later than 4pm and more likely by 3pm.
Looking forward to seeing you at the race.
Jacque
