Trail Grants obtained

City of Pasadena ? Grant obtained for 2-3 miles of new singletrack adjacent
to new hike and bike trail. Have 2-3 years to use the grant money. Frank
Rangel and Mark Lucas are GHORBA reps on project.

City of Houston ? Received $89K for Olympic Park at Sims Bayou.

Connection Trail

Larry and Chris met Thursday, Sept. 13th at noon with new consultant hired
by the city for all MP Master Plan projects. Gave consultants summary of
what is expected/requested for MB connection trail, a history of
relationship with Parks Dept., trail maintenance, etc. Consultant is
completing a survey of the entire park, including drainage, bank
stabilization for Buffalo Bayou, all 20 user groups, traffic and parking,
etc. They have 4 local consultants working as subcontractors. The final
report and recommendations are to be complete by Sept. 2002. GHORBA will
get draft copies of the report for our review.

City of Houston ? Parks Master Plan ? ANT HILLS

The city has been working on its Parks Master Plan for quite some time now.
City Council denied the initial plan, as paying for the plan is to be
achieved through a bond and the city already has a lot of debt due to the
stadiums. The final proposal is for purchasing land or refurbishing parks
all over Houston and seeking a $60MM bond in the election this fall.
Included in the proposal is the purchase of the land along Buffalo Bayou
from Beltway 8 to Addicks along the south side?the area the trails are
located in. The proposal is to convert this area to a linear park similar
to what is in existence on the north side of Terry Hershey Park. The Parks
Dept. has been made aware of the trails' existence.

RockShox Tool Grant

Garth submitted grant application letter to RockShox for trail tool grant.
Hoping to obtain McLeods for trail work (helps for compaction, etc.).

Bike Houston/ HABA Meeting

Several people attended the inaugural meeting for Bike Houston, the
proposed umbrella organization. Transition team includes Gail Hurley,
Regina Garcia, Chris Case, etc. Will decide structure of BH, goals, etc.
at coming meetings. Comments? Suggestions??

Kids Cup - Huntsville

GHORBA has volunteered to help with the Kids Cup Race at Huntsville on
Saturday, Sept. 29. We have 6 volunteers so far and need about 13-15
total. There are spots for course marshals, helping with awards, giving
walking tours of the park, helping with refreshments, etc. Please let me
know if you are interested.

GHORBA Jersey

Believe we have the information required by Morgan Stanley for their
sponsorship. Don't have exact date of $$ receipt yet. Jersey updated
design in final stages. Expect to begin taking orders early October.

September GHORBA Ride ? Warda

Sept. ride will be at Warda Sunday, Sept. 23rd at 9 a.m. Access fee is
$5.50, camping fee is $8. For anyone wanting to carpool, we will leave
from the MARS store at Memorial City Mall at 7 a.m. The drive to Warda is
approx. 1:45.
