IMBA Hires Mountain Biking Leader for Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew
Lisa Cramton of Crested Butte, Colorado, joined the award-winning
Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew at the beginning of August. She'll travel and
work with TCC veteran Joey Klein for the rest of 2001, leading trail
projects in Idaho, Washington, Canada, Alaska, Oregon and California.
For the last 12 years, Lisa served as a key staffer for the oldest mountain
bike festival in the world, Fat Tire Bike Week in Crested Butte, Colorado.
She continues to be a board member of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame and
Museum and is the treasurer for the local Crested Butte Mountain Bike
Association, which lays claim to the title of mountain biking's first club.
"I enjoy working on trails and keeping them open for the next generation to
explore."
Lisa also teaches women's bicycling clinics, showing the ladies that they
can ride with the guys. For the last 10 years she has managed a ski and
bike shop in Crested Butte.
A few years ago, Lisa broke a small bone in her wrist while riding in
Fruita, Colorado. Lisa epitomized the resourcefulness of a mountain biker
when she traded the doctor a bike for the surgery. "Who got the better
deal?" she asks with a grin.
Lisa's favorite places to ride include Crested Butte's famous Trail #401
and
Strand Hill; the Virgin River Rim Trail near Brian Head, Utah; Horsethief
Bench in Fruita, Colorado; Thunder Mountain near Panguitch, Utah; and the
Crest Trail near Salida, Colorado.
