efforts). PD is now taking before and after pictures of our work!
Trail status number and answering system finally functional. Number is
(713) 437-6588. GHORBA is mentioned on answering message as the entity to
contact for more info on the trails.

for class ? looking at September. Class will be free with part being
taught from the manuals and the rest done on the trails. Will send out
invitations to MPAB, PD, Ant Hills group?anyone else??
GHORBA Jerseys
Morgan Stanley (logo goes on the side panel) ? donation of $1000.
Bikesport, Boones Cyclery, WestEnd, Northwest Cyclery will all go on the
back ? all have paid $300 each. Westside schwinn paid $150. Planetary -
sent them a proposal by letter and confirmed that they will donate $300 to
the jersey and purchase 5 jerseys at cost. Www.mtnbikerider.com donated
$300 towards jersey in exchange for logo on jersey. We now have enough
money to start the order (must pay half up front). We are confirming the
final price ? cost to purchase will likely be around $50. Going to sell
the jerseys in shops, at meetings, and on PayPal on the internet. Will
begin taking orders in August. Money/profit from jerseys will be used to
buy trail maintenance tools for GHORBA.
Bike Maintenance Class
Planetary Cycles and GHORBA is hosting second of two bike maintenance
classes on brakes and derailleurs. Class will be held Thursday, July 12th
at 7 pm. at Planetary Cycles on S. Braeswood. Cost is $10. Bring a chair
to site in and paper to take notes. Adam is encouraging people to bring
their bikes so the class is hands on.
Riding Clinic #2
Ryan Spates and Susan have offered to teach riding clinic. Ryan and Susan
helped coordinate the Jacquie Phelan riding clinic back in April ? they
also assisted Jacquie in teaching the class. The second riding clinic will
be a similar format. Date will be July 21st at TC Jester Park. Cost is
$25 per person, including lunch and riding socks. Ryan and Susan will each
retain $5 per person for teaching the class, $10 will go to GHORBA, and the
remaining $5 per person will be used for food and socks.
Sprockids Program
GHORBA is starting conversations with Scott Schaefer of the Texas Mountain
Bike Racing Assoc., Diane Uhl of Rocky Hill, Gail Hurley of TMBRA and
Northwest Cycling, Kathy with the Velodrome, and Lisa Nye of Kelly Creek
Ranch to start a multi-group sponsored Sprockids program for the Houston
and surrounding area. Not sure how it will all fit together, but wanting
to use existing programs like Scott's kids' clinic and TMBRA's Kids Cup
races and have GHORBA fill in the blanks with the IMBA program. Right now
there is no kid-specific riding program for mountain biking. Sent Judy
with IMBA an email expressing our interest. Once the jerseys start
selling, and we have money coming in, we will be buying the Sprockids
materials for $75. Lastly, Paul Uhl has inquired about GHORBA's interest
in helping run the Kids Cup at the Huntsville race this year. Members at
meeting voted to accept invitation to assist at race?.will get more info
soon.
