I have called it myself, and the information line for the Memorial Park
trails is now in operation. The number is (713) 437-6588. It will provide
a prerecorded message saying whether the trails are open or closed and
refer to GHORBA's website for further information. The Parks Dept. rangers
are supposed to check the trails each morning and decide as to whether they
will be open or closed. As trail conditions change rapidly with the hotter
temperatures, the rangers will be checking the trails again in the late
afternoon, make another determination, and change the signs, if warranted.
