With special thanks to the Houston Parks and Recreation. Dept.

What? A Women-only Mountain Bike Skills Clinic

Where? Memorial Park- Meet at the kiosk near trail head and rugby
field.

When? Sat. April 28th. 10:00am-4pm

Details: The skills clinic will cover bike handling, ride
preparation, basic maintenance and other helpful skills. Lunch
will be provided by El Meson, and a short ride will follow.
(Gotta go practice!) Cost of the clinic is $75. (FYI-that's $25
cheaper than previous clinics!)

What you need: A Bike (Preferably an off-road one of some type,
but not necessarily), a helmet (don't leave home without one!),
riding accessories, water, and a great/fun attitude!

About Jacquie! Jacquie Phelan has a B.A. from Middlebury
College, which has nothing to do with mountain bikes. She began
riding a bike at the late age of 9, and has been "kind of old for
stuff like that" ever since. She entered and won her first race
at age 25. Along with a handful of Marin County cyclists she
founded NORBA in 1982, then won three national championships.
Unbeaten from 1981-1986, she has more wins than any other racer
in the sport. Older than ever, Phelan presides as the "Wombat
Dowager" in the Women's Mountain Bike and Tea Society (WOMBATS).
She hates driving, and plans never to hang up the '83 vintage
aluminum bike built by her husband Charlie Cunningham (WTB).

Jacquie founded WOMBATS to offer women a gentle introduction to
her favorite sport. She has organized and taught hundreds of
women's mountain biking workshops. When not attempting to improve
her banjo picking skill, Jacquie writes for various magazines and
publications, and continues to promote women's mountain biking
all over the world.

Time to give the 411!
