Last year, pirates invaded Lake Worth, Florida.
During the city's annual4^th of July Raft Race, kayakers flying the Jolly Roger interfered with the race, preventing Kiwanis from gaining their 5^th straight victory and generally causing much mayhem and comic relief.
The pirates were then flagged down by City Mayor Jeff Clemens and awarded the"Crowd Pleaser" prize for favorite raft.

I'm happy to say that the PIRATES HAVE BEEN INVITED back this year by organizers and city officials.

This is what I'd like to do:

The Downtown Jewel Neighborhood Association (of which I am Secretary and Raft Race Chair)would like to call its raft the Maersk Alabama, and I'd like to seea pitched battle (using water cannons this time, NO contact, please!)between some "Somali" pirates and some Arrrrrrh-type pirates over the raft.

SERIOUS racers will still be able to get around us.  They will be presented with a coupon they can redeem for a sense of humor at the end of the race.

I may be able to conjure some extra kayaks/canoes as some of us, like me, willbe on neighborhood association rafts
