So I did the Potomac Pedalers BB*57 ride as Martha suggested. I even passed
Martha near Thurmont (I don't think she saw me). The PP ride has a different
flavor. If you come off, you get left. The A riders took off at the start and we
never saw them again. I rode with the B group. We went up Catoctin Hollow, which
is really a long climb when you are trying to keep up. We did not wait for
anyone or re-group at the top. I did not have the q sheet, so I had to try to
stay with the group.
The road past Camp David was closed, so we had to go up Hwy 77. I was not too
disappointed since Hwy 77 is much less steep than going through the park. We did
stop at Sheetz for a rest stop where some riders rejoined the group (the A group
skipped the stop). The PP riders were very friendly. I would do another PP ride,
but you have to have the q sheet and plenty of water.

rolling back roads in a rural setting. We will explore the northern Frederick
valley with uninterrupted views of the Catoctin Mountains. A rest stop is
planned at mile 21. Ride will be swept. No go on wet roads. Two water bottles
recommended. Linda and Lanny Evans 301/590-0088.

time last month and it was really pretty. Quiet roads. A nice 12 mile warm-up
before a little climbing through Catoctin Mountain Park. It's almost all
downhill from mile 22. Let's hope the holiday weekend will keep the president
away. Mark Hemhauser [mbhhbm <> verizon.net] H: 202/543-8005 or 202/834-9309.
