Sorry for the late notice but I'm just confirming that I won't be running a practice today either. After our Ironman back to back double sudden death heroics last week at tour most of the team there has decided to take the day off and go to the Reading Beer Festival instead as a reward for all our hard work.
Feel Free to have a practice/chuckabout but you will have to organise it yourselves.

Meet at 10:15 this Saturday at Paddington Station near the Krispy Kreme shop. Trains to Reading run every 5-10 mins, and if we get a nice enough number of people we can take advantage of the GoupSave offer where 4 travel for the price of 2. You can find a map to the festival if you're travelling later here: http://www.readingbeerfestival.org.uk/general/about/directions . They've even got directions "from abroad", so you've got no excuse wherever you are.
Reminder that practice is on tommorrow at 6pm in Hyde Park. Amongst all the usual fun and antics we are going to have a Flump vs Thrown game. Thrown want to practice for their upcoming University Nationals this weekend and would like to play a proper match.
Sounds like fun. Feel free to come down earlier, I should be there from around 5pm.
My mates at CAMRA are organising a beer festival in Reading this week: http://www.readingbeerfestival.org.uk/ . A few of us are going across to Reading on Saturday morning. Join us! I'll send an email out later in the week with proposed travel times, but I intend to get there at, or soon after, opening. Trains run very frequently from Paddington, and we'll be there all day, so don't worry if you can't make it for the start.
Manny B-utt hurts from Ironman ultimate over the weekend
For those of you travelling to "the Holy Land" (i.e. Wales, and in particular Caerdydd) here is some useful information:
I'm taking the 7:15pm train from Paddington tomorrow: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ . If enough of us meet up at the station at 6pm in the Fullers pub on the 3rd floor then we can drink and arrange to get "groupsave" tickets where 4 people travel for the price of two. It should pull in to Cardiff at 9:20pm.
Flump, Ham+Sarah, Dr. J and his lady, will be staying at 21 Flora Street: http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=GB|cf24%204ep . It's a green house with "Fanny Street" on the side of it. The nearest train station is Cathays (which is two stops from Cardiff Central). The 35 bus can be caught from Cardiff Central bus station and stops even closer to my house. It's a 25min brisk walk through one fo the finest civic centres and most boisterous high streets in Europe if you fancy walking instead. There'll probably be enough of us to take a taxi from the station. There is parking outside my house. You can take busses to the pitches but taxis are quicker and cheaper. You'll need to bring a sleeping bag, and it would be nice if you could arrange for some kind of small gift for my flatmates to thank them for being so drunk/stoned/obsessed with Halo 3 and the new Mario Kart game on the wii/tolerant.
Friday night, I propose we go to my favourite bar in Cardiff, 300m from my house: http://www.barenroute.com/default.aspx . It's opposite the Flora Pub, on the junction of Flora Street and Cathays Terrace.
Saturday night, I propose we go to my second favourite restaurant in Cardiff (but that's not saying much) which isn't far from home either: http://www.itchycardiff.co.uk/review.cfm/5/197709/Cardiff-City-Guide/review/Bella-Napoli . Afterwards we can mingle/bump'n'grind/3pint challenge with the local wildlife in the amazingly messy, rough, but still charming, Great Western pub in town. Or we could do something else. But I know best. So there.
Print off this email and the links if you're coming, and take note of my phone number (07984767852) if you haven't got it.
Sorry for ignoring almost every email recently but the past three weeks have been frantic because of my move back to London.
The deadline for entry to Tour 3 in Mansfield is this Friday and at the moment we don't have enough people for a team. If you want to go then E-mail me before Friday. If I don't have at least 7 names down by Friday I wont be entering a team. As I've said before it would be a shame if we couldn't enter a team in to all the tours after putting a lot of effort into the other 3 events. I hope to hear from you all soon.

Here's the deal for Tour 2 this weekend. I've just received an E-mail saying our start time on Saturday is going to be 9.00 am. Because of this I think the best plan will be to go down to Cardiff on Friday evening, have a few drinks of something and get a good night's sleep so we can get to the pitches bright and early on Saturday Morning. We'll head back to London on Sunday evening as usual. I'll be sending more info on how I'll be traveling down in the next day or so if people want to join me they can.
Just to remind everyone here's a list of who I've got down for Tour 2:

Manny
Finnish
Gaz
Eric
Susan
Kat
Crispy
Simi
Snazzy
(There are still places at the Tour if anyone else wants to join us)
REGISTRATION
If you haven't done so already this year you will all have to buy a membership from the UKUA and register as a member of Flump. Both can be done at www.ukultimate.com
As most of you will have done this already I wont give you a long explanation here. Just contact me if you have any questions/need help with this.
KIT
For those of you without Flump shirts I will try and beg borrow or steal some for you. Our alternate kit will be yellow as at previous tours. If you don't have a yellow top then you can either use it as a perfect excuse buy one or bring a white one instead (obviously yellow would be preferable but you shouldn't
be losing any sleep over it).
Our shorts are black.
ENTRY
You will need to show one of these passes to get let into the site so print some off for yourself. You can fin them here: http://www.malago.co.uk/tour/
ACCOMMODATION/other stuff
Manny has generously offered to let us all sleep in a big pile on his floor so tents aren't necessary but you will need all the other stuff you bring to tours (bin liners, towels, change of cloths, etc.). Remember we will be in Wales so assume the weather's going to be worse than predicted.
CONTACT
For any more info you can look at the web site (http://www.malago.co.uk/tour/) or give me a
text/call at 07948975302.
I look forward to seeing you all at the weekend,

Although the first proper tour only happened 2 weeks ago we already have to start thinking about it coming to a close. Tour 3 will take place in Mansfield (near Nottingham) on 10-11 May and I need to know if people are in. This will be the last chance to play for Flump in the open Tour this year, so make the most of it. Everyone is welcome, you don't need to have played for Flump before and you don't have to have played in the Kings or DD first teams either. When I say everyone is welcome I mean EVERYONE. Anyone who wants to play will play. So don't miss out on your last chance to play Open Tour for Flump this year. If you do you will regret it.
As the Database system seems to have broken down a little as of late I'm going
to ask if anyone who is interested can E-mail me saying so. I will not be counting people on the Database so get E-mailing.
Hopefully I'll be hearing from you all soon.

Hi Flump GIRLS -
To anyone interested in an all expenses paid frisbee tour to
Zurich in June!!!!!!!!
Imperial Frisbee have been asked to play at the IDEA league in
Zurich! The dates are the 18th-20th of June.
IDEA league is a sports event between Imperial, Paris, Germany,
Switzerland and Holland University that happens every year. The
hosting uni decides what sports they want to play and this year Zurich
wants one of the sports to be Mixed Frisbee.
So this leaves me trying to pull together a mixed team for the
18th-20th June
Great things about this tournament are
1. Its totally FREE- Sports imperial are covering all travel, food and
accomodation is tents/sports hall floor. Only thing for us to pay for
is Alcohol!!!!
2. Its all a bit of fun really and will be a great fun team going
The schedule so far is to fly out on wed morning, wed afternoon is a
'fun orienteering thing in the countryside and zurich city organised
by zurich uni, dinner and some event inthe evening. Thursday is an
afternoon of games, 4 24min games followed by a PARTY which i have
heard is a lot of fun!!! Friday is another day of stuff organised by
Zurich, basically a morning of fun, possibly containing golf, archery
and random other sports! Friday eve we will fly back.
If you want to play and are free for the dates can you email me
ASAP- I really need to find a team soon. So far kayleigh and I are
going, leaving two spots to fill.
Thanks
Rosie x

There are now 12 guys, signed up for the beach tourney in Finland which is the amount I will take in. So no more guys (unless someone drops out), but female players are more than welcome.
The lucky twelve are:
finnish Manny goldfish Crispy Stas Niall Chow Aki G Hamid Dyson Sam
Still no Flumpettes confirmed, but there is still time for you all if you want in.
Just as a reminder, the tournament is in Finland in Yyteri on the 5.-6.7. and it is a mixed beach tournament (hence the need for girl players) The plan is to spend a long weekend over in Finland crashing at my home and cottages at the beach, party and play frisbee. We will book flights very soon (hopefully). The tournament costs 25€ per player and accommodation will be about 5€ per head. Flights to Finland with ryanair are from £100 to £150 and then you'll obviously need some spending money for food, drinks & transportation.
If
you are interested in coming along just drop me a line.
Ah, it's this weekend I'm afraid, but thanks for your reply. Do you guys have any beginners / freshers that might want to play? They're usually quite shy about these kinds of things.

I've just found out that DD will be having a chuckabout from 1pm. So to make things easier we'll start at the same time. Come by at 1 for the chuckabout, not 2. If you arrive at 2 you will be late. Afterwards we will be heading off to the pub. I'll see you all tomorrow.

I'm just writing to let you all know that there will be a practice/chuckabout tomorrow (saturday) at 2 pm in Hyde Park. Depending on numbers we will have some throwing practice, a couple of drills and if there are enough of us maybe a pick up game as well. Everyone from DD, Thrown and Flump is welcome so if you feel the need to have a break from revision or to work off some of those holiday pounds come down and join us.

Another up-date on what is going on with the tournie.
So far I have the following people as confirmed attendees:
finnish Manny goldfish Crispy Hamid Dyson G Sam Stas Aki
And people who have expressed interest, but haven't confirmed:
Niall Magnet Stella Cazbo Lynn
As the numbers are right now, we are pretty good for guys. Maybe one or two can still come. Ladies, obviously not so good, but fingers crossed some of you might see the light. If not I've spoken to some of my friends in Finland, and we should be good for pick-up ladies if we cannot get our own.
Another email coming for the guys who have confirmed.
A quick up-date on what is going on with the tournie.

The fact that we only maybe have two Flumpettes is a bit problematic, so unless our lovely ladies come forwards I will try to organise some pick-ups from Finland.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to attend the tournament. We are not in a hurry with registration fee's or anything like that, but the plane tickets will go up the longer we delay buying them. That is why I would like to get things confirmed as early as possible. Also if I need to organise pick-up ladies from home I want to do that early rather than late.
For more details about the plan for the tournament check my earlier
emails, but in short the plan is to go and have fun on the beach in a bit more exotic place.

P.S. Thanks for everyone who was at Tour 1 for an amazing weekend.
----- Original Message ---- From: Matias Autio <frisbee_finnish@...> To: disc <disc-doctors@...>; flump@yahoogroups.com; thrown <thrown@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Sunday, 30 March, 2008 4:35:05 PM Subject: [Flump] Finnish Beach Tournament, Flump is in !!!
Hello boys and girls,
I've just got confirmation from the tournament organisers in Finland that Flump is in for Yyteri Beach Ultimate 5.-6.7.2008 in Pori, Finland. (http://www. terror.fi/ ybu/) (see the bottom for the email from the organisers)
So now that we have a place we need to start organising stuff. I have a number of people who have expressed interest, but we need some more, and especially we need more girls, as this is a mixed tournament. So Flumpettes, get involved!
Anyways here is what I've planned in bit more detail.
The tournament is on the first weekend in July (5.-6.7.) in a town near to my home in Finland. What I thought would be that people fly over either on Wed or Thu. We chill at my house for Thu/Fri, then drive over to the tournament place (I'll get one of my dad's minibuses for the weekend) either Fri evening or Sat morning. Play a lot of frisbee and drink a lot of beer with
the finnish teams for Sat and Sun and
then drive back with people either flying out on Sun eve or Monday.
The cost of the tournament is 24€ per person. Flights to get you to Finland at the moment are £100 return with ryanair (flying to Tampere) or about £190 return with blue1 (proper airline, flying to Helsinki). You can also fly to Turku (my home town) but it will cost a bit more about £250 prolly. Anyways Helsinki, Tampere or Turku are all good, cos I will be able to pick you up from there. At the tournament we can either camp (10€ per tent) or hire out small cottages 40,50€ sleeping 2-4. We'll obviously have to pay for the petrol of the minibus (and maybe buy my dad a bottle of whiskey). Then you'll need what ever you'll spend for food. So all and all pretty cheap for a frisbee tournament abroad.
Right, can everyone who wants to come please email me and confirm again, and anyone new do that too. If we wont get our own Flumpettes involved we will have to
resort to pick ups. I will
probably be able to sort out some from back home, but if you know anyone who would be interested talk to them and let me know.
So get excited, Flump is going to Finland!
-finnish
Email from the organisers:
Hi,
We have decided that we will arrange it so that you can participate in the tournament. This is to let you know that you can start planning your trip. We will keep the participant list on the website as it is for now because we don't know exactly yet what sort of arrangement we will make. Most likely we will either hand-pick the 32 teams that can participate (and you will be one of them) or we will set up one more field so that more teams can fit.
Hi
Does anyone going on Tour 1 have a spare pair of size
10 boots that I could borrow - left all my stuff in

The documents are at the bottom of the page. The info pack has all sorts of cool stuff such as directions and addresses for the venu. The schedule contains when we play. Can those arriving on saturday morning please try to be at the site at least an hour before the match starts (ie. 11 am). This would probably mean getting a train that arrives in Bristol at 10:30.
I will be getting the 16:00 train from Paddington to Bristol. Anyone who wants to join me is more than welcome to. If you do then please text or call me first so I know to look/wait
for you. Have a safe journey,
I'll be at Bristol Temple Meads at 18:52 tomorrow. I'll be travelling from Cardiff on the choo choo train, though it makes more of a loud roar, really. If nobody sends me a txt (on 07984767852) to wait for them at Bristol Temple Meads I'll take 19:18 to Clifton Down station and take a taxi for two miles to the pitches, where I'll set up my tent before it gets dark.
If you want to check train times visit: www.nationalrail.co.uk . There is an evening peak at Paddington, from 4:30pm to 7pm, so it may be cheaper to travel earlier, or take the Megabus/NationalSexpress.
See you there,

Hi people on tour 1, what are your plans for getting to Bristol? I'm thinking train then taxi to sportsground. Obv its cheaper to share a taxi, and it seems fairly far from the train station. Also, first great western are very expensive at certain times, i think at 7?
