Hey everyone,

As Tour 0 is only a week away it's time to sort ourselves out. Please read the following instructions and do them. If  not we will be disqualified from tour and lots of bad stuff will happen. First up who's down as attending. So far the following people are the in crowd:

Flembo
Manny
Finnish
Sui
Dan Crack (Chucky)
Dr. J
Hai Ming
Ed
Finnian
Pierre
Probably Dr.Nick

As good as this team is I'm getting lazy in my old age so more players are still welcome. Send me an e-mail if you want to come along. Everyone is still welcome. On the other hand if you drop out at the last minute finnish will hunt you down and make you listen to him sing Sir Cliff Richard's entire back catalogue.

Rostering

This is important. If someone doesn't do this we get disqualified, so please don't foreget.
If you are playing you have to both be a paid up memberof the UKUA and rostered with Flump on the web site If you have done this already in the last 12 months you can skip this part. If you haven't then please do so now. Simply go to www.ukultimate. com click join along the menu bar at the top and then follow the instructions. You have to pay for the membership so if you haven't paid anything you haven't done it right. After that you go to "clubs" click on "teams" and find flump on their database. Ask to become a member and I'll approve you. Simple.

Kit

Please bring blue and while Flump tops and White shorts/skorts. If you don't have flump tops I'll try to bring some spares for you. If you don't have any white shorts think of buying them as a n investment.

Practice

I'll be at the 1pm practice tomorrow. If you can make it please do as it'd be good to have everyone playin together before next weekend.

Transport

You can get there easily by train or car. here's the address:

Bournemouth Sports Club
Chapel Gate, East Parley
Christchurch, United Kingdom

That's all for now if I've forgotten anything or if you have any questions please let me know.
Hopefully I'll see you all tomorrow:

Check it,

For those who came to MT1 there is the small matter of the £185 tournament fee payment.

It works out as £13 each (not including Lozza and Blingor) and £6.50 for Manny.

Here are my bank deets:

HSBC

Sort Code : 40-14-04

Account Number: 01139940

Can those who traveled in Beatrice add £9 for petrol costs. £7 for Kaleigh cause I owe u a little from Alounak.

Hope that’s all okay.

If you can’t pay via bank transfer then you can always pay me at practice.

Email me your names for MT2 (even to say you cant come) and come on down to practice tonight,

It is in Manchester on the 9/10th May.

Email me (not the group) asap and tell me if you can or can not come.

Please dont be shy, and dont worry about your standard. We are going to try and fit everyone in and hopefully pick a team in the next week or so.

Hopefully see you and your easter egg tummies on Wed or maybe at the quiz tonight.

Hey Flumpers!

After a hard weekend of eating Easter Eggs, what better exercise is there than brain exercise to work them all off!?!

This Tuesday's quiz is at the Fentiman Arms in Oval. We've been there before, and they have 'FREE BOOOOOZE' questions. This time I have booked a table, so we don't have to spread out on stools along the back!

The quiz starts at 8, the table is booked for 7.30, but I'm sure if you get there earlier it will be ok.

Flump, dD, Thrown,

Slight change of plan - birthday beer festivals are the new birthday karaoke. Hoopers will have beers from all nine London breweries this weekend: http://www.hoopersbar.co.uk/guestales.html . Dyson and I will be going on Saturday after a round of discgolf at 1pm, so the karaoke is off. Yes, the pub's near Camberwell, but it's really close to where we'll be earlier in the day...

The discgolf course is right next to Lloyd Park station on the tram: http://www.croydondiscgolf.com/LloydPark.html . Use http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/ to find out how to get there. Meet there at 1 with the normal ultimate disc of your choice. The course costs nothing to play on. Lunch will be on the top of the hill after the 9th hole - unless roots, shoots, and leaves, are part of you normal diet you may want to bring a sandwich. I'll supply the beer, Dr. J style. Crispy will probably bring his stupid boot and some fanciful stories about what happened at the models' party the night before.

We'll go to the beer festival after the disc-golf, so if you fancy joining us for the beer then either expect us at 7pm, or give me a ring on 07984767852 on the day. Let me know if you fancy coming along.

Yeah Holy Week!

Flump and Friends,

Dyson's back in civilisation for Easter. It's his birthday on Sunday, and it's 25 years of mememe on Monday, so I thought we should have a sing-song on Saturday. Flawless logic.

Please email me ASAP if you'd like to come to Karaoke Box Smithfield Market on Saturday between 8-11pm: http://www.karaokebox.co.uk/smithfield/ . It'll cost £18 per head to hire a room for 14 people for three hours.

I've gone for Smithfield because the Soho one had mixed reviews (really shabby and hot), and only has one large room which was booked all evening anyway. I haven't gone for Gilly's suggestion (http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/westminster/chinese-restaurants/gourmet-buffet-sw1p2af.html) because the reviews are so bad it must be good, and becuase it's shut over Easter?! Gilly loves it though, so we can try it sometime later.

In so far are: Me, the waaf, Dyson, Ai-Chin, Gilly, Crispy.

Tarra,

Manny

Woop woop! Great job last weekend Flump, a top 8 finish is something to be very proud of. I cant stop thinking about that Herd game.

I guess all those winter training sessions we had definately paid off. Manny's side arm hucks were top class this weekend and i remember him practicing them in the snow of Hyde Park in January.

So keep coming to practices. Wed 5pm Hyde Park, Sat 1pm Hyde Park. Everyone is welcome.

Weather is set to be fine tomorrow, so come on down. Im going to bring some picnic stuff to enjoy during practice, feel free to bring some of your own.

Ciao

I'll be coming to the quiz...yes I usually don't warn people about that, but this time I shall be bringing 3 finnish guys with me.

One of my old highschool classmates is in town with two of his friends and I invited them to join our quiz night. Unless they are too hammered by 1900 tmrw night they shall be joining us at the quiz. So that means that you will have three more people with no insight into english royalty or any other information that is as irrelevant as that. :)

hey guys and girls

flump rocked up in cardiff this last weekend and started the mixed
season in pretty much the same vein as we ended last season.

i dont know how my tournament reports end up being so long...
but hopefully youll decide its worth the read

anyway,
seeded 10th we had a crossover match to begin with.

vs 'catch those'

we really underestimated this jr team and were punished early in the
game. they were patient and composed against our arrowhead zone and
took a 4-1 lead. it had been a while since we had all played together
but after sam's inspirational layout score we began to find our
rhythm. hiromi was working hard and getting into the flump spirit
which was great and we all stepped up our man d to eventually win the
game.
final score 13 - 6?

vs gb worlds team

our reward for keeping our seed was a group game against the best
players in the country. i think most of us were relishing a chance to
match up against this team. this was a real education for me (and
others im sure...). gb were excellent and took the half 7-0. that
said, our heads were up. we had turned them over a number of times
and had been really close to converting. rosie scored our first point
with a great end zone cut and we battled hard for two more points. in
the end gb won quite comfortably but we had raised our game and
scored more points against them than anyone else that day...
final score 3 - 13

vs limited release

everyone brought the intensity on d from the last match over to this
one. mad k was especially good at marking out their main threat in
sicko and we all played a hand in shutting them down. blingor helped
the handlers spread the disc with some great swing cuts (his absence
was really felt the next day) and we cruised to victory in ruthless
fashion.
final score 13 - 4?

vs discuits

last season we never once won against discuits and i know we all
wanted to reverse that trend. just as in the game before, our d was
intense. i remember gilly worked really hard as chase for large parts
of this game and they really struggled with the downwind point. we
scored 3 or 4 points in quick succession and never gave them an inch
on d.
final score 13 - 5?

great way to end the day. second only to the gb worlds team in our
group and guaranteed a top 15 finish. we finished fairly early and
had the luxury of watching some of the other games. we then embarked
on a ridiculously long trek in search for a place to eat before
eventually finding a nice enough pub. the party wasnt as good as some
of the ones last year and i think we all retired fairly early..

first game of sunday would decide if we stayed in the top 8...
vs thundering herd

herd were unlucky to not top their group. i think they had lost out
in a three way tie by one point or so. we were far from sympathetic
and wanted the win as much as they did. our d was as intense as
yesterday forcing loads of turnovers and helped us take an early
lead. after many attempts, we finally got a canada play to work to
perfection: tate sent a sweet backhand huck to the streak of blue and
orange that could only be manny. ham was running insanely hard as
always and despite herd threatening with a late comeback, we never
let go of our lead. awesome result.
final score 13 - 9?

vs baf

we werent expecting a game immediately after the last one, but
started well enough. kaleigh made some huge grabs and lozza put some
great forces on merrick. baf were definitely scared but fortunately
for them we just couldnt keep it up. it always seems a bit of a
copout to say that we were really tired but we were... we started to
lose our marks on d a little more easily and let uncharacteristic
drops creep into our game. we can definitely give this team a better
run for their money...
final score 5 - 13?

vs bristol plastic factory

it was the last game of what had been an excellent tournament for
flump. we wanted to end it in style, but so did bpf apparently...
they took a 4-0 lead and we looked all at sea to be honest. liza made
some great break cuts and helped the handlers get the disc off the
line a few times. we were leaving it late but were starting a great
comeback. helen and sui both got some great run through d's and
finnish was putting some great straight up forces on. unfortunately
it did turn out to be a little too late but wed at least given a good
account of ourselves.
final score 9 -13?

final position - 8th
the bag - as always, this is tightly contested but rosie and sui were
deserved winners i think.

next mixed tour is the 9th/10th may
im sure ham will be asking for your names soon enough
hamtheman2000@...

also summer league is fast approaching
dan and crispy are heading that so listen out for that too.

see you guys at practice

much love

Hello Flumpers!

For my first quiz as quizmistress, I propose a pub suggested by Dr J (therefore if it's crap, it's not my fault! haha!). The Hammersmith Ram has a quiz which starts at 7.45pm, at £1 a head with teams of 4.

Link to info can be found here :

(Actually you may have to paste this into browser. I fear my linking abilities are poor.)

See you tomorrow, I will try and get a table at 6.45 / 7 ish.

  • A summary of the most significant changes to the WFDF Rules. (Try and have a grasp, dont worry if you dont understand them fully)
  • The gates will be shut and locked after 11:30 on Fri night, so you need to tell them in advance if you are going to arrive later.

Our first game is the most important of the day. Its against the 23rd seeds and we need to win to stay in the top 16. As its our first game we need to be chucking about as early as we can. The games are short this weekend. The first one is only 60min long, so we need to make sure we are flying on all cylinders right from the start.

Please be booted and chucking about by 8:30.

After that we get to relax and play The Worlds Team!! Fresh!

Well done everybody for sorting your memberships and rosters. However the website says that Gilly and Blingor still need to become paid members...the website or i might be wrong, so let me know. Ta.

Don't forget your item/s for The Bag.

Im getting excited.

Ham

p.s Can someone print out the captains pack and schedule and bring it with them. Ta.

p.p.s Shotgun marking Adam Holt!

Hi boys and girls,

I'm going to be picking up with gallahs this weekend which means two things. 1) Keep a close eye on your drink at the party 2) I'm driving to cardiff tomorrow evening at about 6:30 from my place. If anyone wants to join me, flembo and some european death punk (optional) you are more than welcome. I have space for 2 more,

C u at the weekend,

Hey Flump,

Just to say that I am really sorry that I have literally disappeared from the ultimate pitches - and from the pub nights too.

I am really turning green, red, blue, yellow, all the colours in the world for the envy! I can't believe I am not going to be there this weekend. It's going to be so much fun. I am so sad. But it had to be this way so, che farci?

I am leaving the country for good by the end of April, still don't know the exact date but I will make sure we say goodbye properly.

You have been main contributors to my happiness in London.
Thank you Flump.

Fresh!

Yo,

This weekend is going to be so fresh!

Schedule

Talking about Fresh, our first game is at 9:15am.

I know...its pretty early. If it makes you feel better, most of the other teams start then too.
Please be ready for the warm up at 8:40am.
The full schedule has'nt been released yet. Ill send that out when i get it.

UKU Membership and Rostering

They have added a new feature this year, where they invite us to roster and we have to give them an up to date team list. I think Manny will send an email about this at lunch time.
Please make sure you are all paid members of ukultimate.

Kit

We should have enough shirts for everybody this weekend. Please bring your spares.
Lozza's shirts look fresh..and at £10 each..they are a bargain!

Also dont forget your sexy white shorts or skirts.

Accomodation

I think the majority are heading over on Friday night.
I know a few of us are staying at a travelodge. Are the rest of you okay for camping? Enough tents? Lets see what happens.

Transport

The venues post code is:  CF3 4JN

Beatrice is taking: Ham, Doogs, Kaleigh, Rosie, Finnish
Can you guys get to Hammersmith for a 6:20am depart?

Hopefully the rest of you are okay getting there.

Player Passes

You need these to drive into the venue. I've attached them above. Print a few off.

The Bag

The bag returns. So bring a 'cherished' item which you will be happy to put in a bag and then at the end of the weekend we give the bag to the player who was voted as the best 'd' player. Its a bit of a laugh but do try and bring something.

Dream Team

The Worlds team will be competing at this weekends Mixed Tour. Imagine playing against
this team:

http://www.ukultimate.com/gb_ultimate/gb_world_games_2009

I would like to see how they cope against our Chelsea Diamond, Cool Runnings play.

Think thats it for now. Good job on getting yourselves sorted. Give us a shout if there are any problems.
Mob: 07739872011

Lets go and hit Cardiff Flump style!!

Hey,

Just an update on tournament info.

Schedule

We are still waiting for the final version of the schedule. The captains pack should be out on Wednesday.

Address

Some people are having trouble finding the postcode for the venue. Please find it below.

Mendip Road
Llanrumney
Cardiff
CF3 4JN

Player Passes

Again you'll need player passes this year. This keeps out undesirables (except those there with a frisbee team) you'll need one to get into the venue, please find them attached.

Rosters

Please remember to register AND roster your teammates on the UKUA website. This is a new function that will help the UKUA greatly with rostering issues, should you have any troubles please get in contact.

Sponsorship

I've drummed up sponsor for MT1, they're a great company that just started. I was a pioneer for them and have been a member for about a 6 months. I think it's a great idea and have shifted 9 DVD's and bought about the same, without spending any money. You basically sell DVD's for credit and then buy other peoples unwanted DVD's.

If you could give some support it would be great, it will only cost
£12 for the first year, free for 6 months. Seriously, no catches. Please pass this info on to your team.

For 6 months free VIP membership use code :  FRBY2233.

www.filmcircle.co.uk

FilmCircle is a new cost saving, eco-friendly, rewarding alternative to buying or renting DVDs

-  Shelter from the credit storm - in your own sofa.
-  Turn old DVDs into something new
-  The end of video rental?
-  Reduce, re use, recycle

With all the hoo-hah over the current climate, we're all looking for good ways to save money without compromising our quality of life. There is no better place than the sofa with a good film, but the likes of satellite TV, cable and even rental still put a dent in your budget.

For just £2 a month, FilmCircle.co.uk exchanges the DVDs you've watched for new ones, delivered to the door. So it comes as no surprise that the company has opened it's doors to a flood of interest
and activity.

"Research shows we won't watch half our DVDs again" says creator Jon Foster-Smith, who sees DVDs as the best way to avoid TV commercials.

"All we're doing is re using resources already paid for - the DVDs we already own. People think of recycling as a chore, but it's surprisingly rewarding to receive a new film or TV box set in the post."

Disks received through the service are yours to keep or pass on again and the site will 'help you choose' - recommending titles based on those you have enjoyed in the past.

Beyond the cost-saving to be made, the initiative has been warmly welcomed by environmentalists.

Any questions or spare women. Please do not hesitate to get into contact.

Hi Everyone,

This is just a reminder to everyone that the entry deadline for Tour 0 (25-26 April in Bournemouth) is coming up fast so gt on the database and put you're name down. This is also a reminder to check you're entry on the database is still correct and to change you're maybe to a yes or no answer ("probably", "I'm not sure" and "perhaps" don't count either). You can find the 2009 Tour players database here:
As some people have said that they are having problems getting on the database you can also E-mail me your reply. As I said before anyone is welcome to play so don't worry if you haven't been playing for long or don't think you're that good (chances are you're better than you think anyway) you are still welcome. Just make sure you let me know you're in!

For those of you who don't know tour 0 is the seeding Tournament for the rest of the Tours. Our result here will determine how high up the tables we start next time. Although that all sound very serious we also go along to have a good time and there will be a very successful blend of playing and partying. It will also improve you're play more than months of practice in hyde park ever could(although you should still go to practice) and give you the chance to play against top class opposition. All for around £20, what's there not to like.

As always please e-mail me if you have any questions,

Flembo

Hi Flump

So the Flump phenomenon continues to rapidly expand and now that we "represent"
in Open, Mixed, London Summer League and numerous social tournies, the time has
come to think about the most important weapon we have in our arsenal – our
hotness!

We want to complement our natural youthful hotness with some fresh white shirts
(prob with two-colour Flump logo) and slinky navy ones (prob with design in just
orange). The aim is to stay true to our splendid existing design and keep it
simple but stylish - much like us - but in breathable, long-lasting material!

We expect each shirt to cost between £20 and £25 but we are definitely trying to
keep costs down. Anyone who wants to play for Flump in any of our many different
guises can get these shirts and they will be good for years to come - well worth
the investment!

Can everyone who wants this spanking new kit please email me (not the group!) by
Weds 8th April (pref sooner!) with the following info:

  *   Your full (real) name
  * Shirts – how many of each colour?
  * Shirt size (NB: we will be getting men's and women’s shirts so please
specify which you'd like eg: 'Men's large' or 'Women's medium'. (See
www.lookfly.com<http://www.lookfly.com/> for sizing)
  * Your existing Flump number or your three preferred numbers in order of
preference (eg: 87, 5, 42)
  *   Your mobile number

Please make clear if you're giving me your existing Flump number and I'll try to
make sure no one nabs it!
NB: we've opted not to have nicknames on these shirts to keep costs down and so
that people can't pretend to know us to make themselves look cool.

So just email me now at:

Cheers

This is not spam,

Just a warning to all you out there to go small. The current lookfly shirts are mahoosive, especially in width. Ask anyone from dD and i'm sure they will be kind enough to show you just how enormous the shirts are.

Cheers,

Crispy
