Most of us will be away in Birmingham or Norwich battling for a spot at Indoor Nationals this weekend. If you're gagging for a practice feel free to send an email out with details. Otherwise crash dD/KCL practice which I believe is held at 11 (Ultimate before midday? why oh why?) on Saturday, or take the opportunity to get some Christmas shopping in.
Tarra,
Manny B-eer festival in Hackeny on the 1st. Stelliboo is thinking of making an appearance. Rauchbier=yumyum. More details later. I'm also thinking about a Rab C Nesbitt/Wii/Risk/Snazzyroo night on Friday the 4th of Dec.

I'd like to nominate the Falcon in Clapham for Tuesdays pub quiz. (Clapham North one, NOT Clapham Junction)

Hello Flump!
In order to carry on with the theme of 'flump but more organised', there's a flump exec yahoo group for anyone who wants to help out with trainings and matches and things. We're trying to make practices more organised (ie having some clue about what we're doing before Saturday morning) but at the same time keeping the group open for all members to have their say. Therefore, if you want to be involved in where flump is heading, join the exec! search either Flump Exec or flump-exec, and let me know if you can't find it. I tried to send a group invite, but apparently you cant invite groups to groups, if that makes any sense.
See most of you at winter league on Sunday!

Anyone ever tried to throw a pitch-length flick into a 75mph headwind only to see it end up 75yrds behind the point from which you attempted to throw it? - no? just me then.
Anyone want to get together to watch the ENG-BRZ game?

hope you're all well. sorry to spam with egocentric news but i just wanted to tell you that i will be in london from 25th november to 2nd december and i would love to see you and play with you... so i was wondering, could i come play with you down in hyde park on the saturday? or better, can i play with you whenever you play during that week?!
let me know so that, in case, i can bring some clothes and boots.
I spoke to a couple of people at WL, but I was wondering if Flump women would be interested in sending a team to women's open nationals on January 30th-31st. To ease the decision making process, I have even made a For and Against list:
For:
Its at the same venue as Open Nationals, on the same weekend.
Its in Glasgow, so you can stay at my house for free.
It only takes 5 hours to get to Glasgow (virgin trains are bendy)
The pitches are brand new and exciting (apparently).
It will be fun.
Women's indoors is not as strong as outdoors, therefore a good chance of doing well. (Plus we're awesome so this is obvious.)
Against:
It's in Glasgow.
Its at the same time as Open Nationals.
So as you can see, the positives far outweigh the negatives! So if you are interested please e-mail me and I will enter a team when the time comes!
Alice D- oesn't know how to do this thing with a double-barrelled surname
so now in the third year i've finally discovered what its like to actually have to work hard for a couple of weeks, and as such i kinda missed out on my bday. Some of you will be thinking... 'ahhh so that's why Crispy hasn't been around recently' while most of you will be thinking... ' I don't give a crap'.
So anyway I'm doing the standard belated birthday kinda thing and of course you're all invited. If you are ever so lucky enough to be my 'facebook friend' you will now already have all the details but for those of you who merely aspire to this status...
WHEN - this friday starting about 9:30 ish' WHERE - my gaff in Earls Court, (27 Sedlescombe Rd, SW6 1RE) WHAT - Cock band, solo 3pc's (layout vom optional), the manny plank off challenge, das boot and no doubt the emergence of a couple new tales for the stories call.
I would really realy love to see you all there. honestly I can't think of a single person on either of these mailing lists who that doesnt apply to. If you told me before I went to uni that i was going to end up spending most of my time hanging out with frisbee players I probably would have cried. (sadness tears). But now you're my main bunch of friends and that means a lot to me.
Had enough of sounding pathetic now, any questions just shout,

Here are the results from the November Mixed Winter League. Big
congratulations to Flump for dominating the day with a very strong looking
team. If they can play like this at the start of the season, when most teams
are still dusting off the cobwebs, then it will exciting to see how they do
when they get warmed up. Next month's event should be an exciting one. Will
Flump maintain this start or will the others rein them in a little. With
Thundering Herd and Flaming Galahs getting two teams each into the top five
and ABH close behind, it should be a good contest. Whatever happens Mixed
Ultimate in London looks in fantastic shape.
Special mention to new teams Golden Ants and Special Blend who made the
second division final with Special Blend edging it out. Well done to both.
Many thanks to all who helped us clear up at the end. Without your help we
might still be there now.
We'll get the Open Winter Leagus stuff out asap next week, but for now here
are the final mixed positions:
Registration is open for the annual Skogs Winter Trophy, the best indoor tournament you will ever go to.
Its in Gothenburg, Sweden on Feb 6/7 and here are some reasons why i think we should send a Flump team:
Its amazing!
Its organised by Skogs...not Scraggy or Chef..but the most efficient and organised Ultimate players in the world.
High quality Ultimate. I went with Brighton a month after winning the UK indoor nationals and we ended up 14th.
The best indoor venue, 9 Huge pitches all under one roof.
Fantastic party! Held at your hotel!
Hot boys and girls.
Its very cheap and loads of fun.
Anyone interested in organising it?
Im going with Brighton, but itll be great to see some Flump folk out there. and itllMaybe we can send a ladies team?
I think im going with Brighton, but if

Hey Flump
Could Munky and Maks please get back to me to confirm you are definately coming
to indoor regionals in birmingham on 21-22 november.
Also please see the below e-mail
Cheers Gaz
I (GAZ) foolishly voluntered to captain flump 2 and whilst it is still a few
weeks until regionals in birmingham I just wanna get a few things rolling before
the event creeps up on us, to make sure we get a reasonably priced place to stay
realtively close to the venue.
Manny has suggested these two places the first being closer to new street staion
and the venue but slightly more expensive about £20 per person per night. The
second is slightly further away and will require taxis if arriving by train but
costs £15 per person per night. This is based on two people sharing. If you
wanna make it cheaper three people can share a room at both places however there
is only one double and one single bed in each room so may be a bit crampt.
Etap Birmingham - 15 mins walk from New Street:

taxi:

They seem to be the cheapest in the vicinity but if anyone has a better option
please let me know.
So all I would like for now is everyone in the below list to e-mail me, to
confirm you are definately still coming and so that I have everyones e-mail
address and won't need to bother all of flump with further info.

and if you could let me know at least a rough idea on the second two points
below
1. preference of accomodation (etap or F1), (2/3 per room), or if you would
rather sort your own, or any further prospective places.
2. Planned travel arrangements i.e going on friday/ saturday by car, train, or
other means!
easiest route by train is to birmingham new street from euston!
No problem if your not sure on some of the other stuff for now, just give me a
rough idea so I can gauge interest on block booking somewhere,
Thats all for now (get back to me asap)
Cheers Gaz
I'm attaching the minutes from our AGM on Saturday, which was actually incredibly productive. I'd like to stress that everything in this club is going to remain open access, so it's only to your benefit to read what went on and come along to the next meeting to find out how this whole organization malarky turns out. So well done everyone that was there and hopefully we'll see everyone at the weekend.
Fink we might have about 2 spaces left if any of you Flumpy/Kings people fancy it. Text me if you do. We're going to the Lahore Kebab House, which is ridiculous good.
Keep it foolish.

you're obviously having a quiet week,

I hope you are all doing well - and that ABH is still playing hard. I'm going to be stopping in London for a couple days on my way back from a conference in Cyprus! and it would be great to catch up with you - and other ABHers.
I'll be arriving late on Friday Nov. 5 and am around for the whole weekend - leaving on the 8th.
Do you guys still have the usual practice and pick-up on Sundays? It'll have been a whole week+ without ultimate after the conference - it'd be nice to throw a disc around in good old Hyde Park again. For those non/former-ABHers I'll also be meeting up with people one of the nights for some food and drinks somewhere. I don't know which night yet though - I still have to coordinate, (I'm open to suggestions for places too).
I didn't have everyone's email, so please pass this along to anyone else who knows me (and would actually like to see me). I didn't email the list because it's been a long, long time.
also... as if you guys havent already been bombarded enough already by bday do's- if you fancy a bit of 80s'90s old school boogying after your night out in soho, come and join me in my bday commiserations! i cant promise you itll be as nice as the soho booth but it will be gd 2c everyone!
we are going to roxys off oxford st/ near tottenham court round. rathbone place i think? its free entry before 10.30 or there are flyers for cheapness all nite. facebook link below if ur game!

Flump,
Casboy is coming to London on the 5th of November for the weekend. This is important because:
She is the closest we'll ever come to royalty without being bundled to the ground by bodyguards (she owns "land", has foreign blood, speaks lots of dead languages, and has a Perudo call named after her)
Seven people are already confirmed (Caz, Ham, Doogs, Wifey+1, Munky, me), so places are going to disappear faster than you can scramble a bored helicopter news crew to follow an empty silver balloon across America for five hours. The cost for 3 hours of crimes against music and decency is £23 per person.
In other news, we have 12 people confirmed for Indoor Regionals: me, Crispy, Sui, Gaz, Alex Cragg, Dan Crack, Casbo, Kaleigh, Hai Ming, Munky, Brickers, and Stylish. There are two spaces per team left, so again, let me know ASAP if you can come. I'll send the cheque off for the second team tomorrow.
See you tonight, or Saturday,
Manny B-A ripped my bag and refused me compo. Fcukers. "Normal wear and tear"? I'll wear and tear their derrieres like that and see how they like it...

So I'm looking forward to seeing you some of you at Adnan's birthday tomorrow night!
If you're up for more birthday bashes (belated) then me and some cats from school are going to head to Positively 4th Street on Hampstead Rd for about 6/ 6.15 on Friday and have a drink and some Thai food there. Then we'll be at Grace on Great Windmill St, Soho, from 8.16pm.
Should be free before 10pm (£5/£8 after) as we're (I'm) on the guestlist. I haven't booked an area because Manny did such a shaven-headed single-handed job of bullying another Sarah into giving up her pre-booked space last year. Let's go for broke and drink her champagne this year!
Feel free to drop in at any stage - would be good to see you out!
Saturday seems a good time to hold what could be our first ever AGM-style gathering.
Hopefully you've all emailed Harry with your suggestions for what you'd like to see more of in Flump, perhaps what you'd like to see less of, or even who you'd like to see less of (that is a joke, BTW), over the coming year. My suggestion is we have our usual practice at 1pm in Hyde Park, and gather in Eastside (next to where Southside is/was, in Prince's Gardens: http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/eatinganddrinking/eatinganddrinkingatsouthkensington/eastsidebar ) at 4pm for THAT pizza and to talk frisbee. If you can't make it (I know it clashes with student indoor regionals) feel free to email Harry with whatever you'd like to say, or even email anyone else you know will be coming along.
On a different note, here are the teams for Indoor Regionals on 21/22nd of November:
Flump1 - Norwich

Sui
Flump2 - Birmingham

I need a captain for Flump2. The first person to respond gets the post. I've done all the boring stuff - I've paid both teams' entry fees, and I know two wonderfully cheap places to stay in Birmingham, so I can forward the details of those places on to you. As Captain you get to do all the fun stuff like the toss, speeches, first dibs on everything, shouting at everyone on the pitch, assigning spirit votes, deciding where you eat and drink, and collecting the trophy we'll win. Or you could delegate all of those things.
The teams have been split that way to accommodate people's location preferences, to to maximise our chances of qualifying. Brum has 24 teams, Norwich 16, but only 4 from each region progress, so the stronger team is going to Norwich. Flump1 is full, unless you are exceptionally talented, offer to pay off my credit card, or offer some kind of sexual favour. Flump2 might have space for 1 or two more, but I'll leave that decision to Flump2's captain.
I've included information from the Birmingham TD below.
See you tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday,
Manny B-een to Loughborough four times, and each time it seems weirder
Firstly congratulation on getting entry to the Indoor Regionals in Birmingham. Clearly the best of the available events! There will be another email closer to the event with rest of the information on and a schedule but this is some information to keep you going, to make sure we have your email address correct and gt some information off you.
Summary…
Each player needs to be registered with UKUA
Players can only play for one team
I need from each Captain by Friday…
Seeding of team (1-24) if possible some results to support this.
Idea of if your team will be staying in Birmingham on Saturday evening and if you would attend in social event and/or meal.
Tournament stuff
Serious stuff first, this is official UKUA event so all the players will need to be registered with the UKUA. Players do not need to rostered with the team but we would like each captain to email us after the tournament with a list of every player who played for them. Also because this is a serious indoor event no player will be able to play for more than one team. None of that Windoors nonsense here please!
The event will be completely open so every team has a fair chance of qualifying and winning but we do still to seed teams to sort of the starting groups. To help to decide this we would like each team to tell me where they think their team will finish between 1st (best) and 24th (worst). We realise this isn’t easy, but if was we wouldn’t this qualifiers after all.We would like each captain to have an honest go at this and give any results to support their verdict if possible. Ideally Indoor Open results but anything is useful.
There will be a prize for the captain who makes the worst prediction and we will also announce how far out our worst seeding was! To remind you the teams in are:
Up the Left
Staffordshire Oatcakes
Artic 1
Artic 2
Flump
NC Hammer
Iron Man(chester)
Goon Squad
Trigger Happy
Super Happy Fun time Flying Disk Go
Ashes
Red 1
Lemmings 1
Lemmings 2
Bears Women
Red 2
Flyght Club
Flux
Bears Open
Mighty Hucks
Mighty Hucks 2 (from Sutton) I need to know if you want to be called something else..
Leroy the Mexican Turbo Snail
Steal
Naughty Strawberries
Also these are the names we are going to be using, so if you want to change it let us know asap.
The top 4 teams will automatically be given places in the Nationals in Glasgow, we are not sure what happens if one of those teams not being able to go. Speak to the indoors UKUA director for that.
We haven’t written the schedule yet but we intend to write it so each team only plays on Saturday morning OR Saturday afternoon, (as previous years as Great Barr Crawl) to minimise the time people have to sit around. This means half the team’s first games will start soon after 9:15 and they will be finished by 13:30 and others start after 13:30 and finish 17:30 if there are any particular reasons why you think your team should get one or the other start time please let us know.
Saturday Night
We would like some idea of which teams are stopping Birmingham on Saturday night and from those who are, some indication of whether you would be interested in a social booking. Don’t worry, we aren’t going to take a register on the night, but would just like some idea. Birmingham is so easy to get to (and away from) and many teams live relatively close to Birmingham so in previous years parties haven’t been well attended. Because of this and as this is serious event we aren’t planning to have a social event but we could organise a meal if people were interested. Alternatively come and speak to us on the day if you want some recommendation of where you team could go in the evening.
If you are booking accommodation in Birmingham we would advise you to do it soon to get the best price. The trip advisor website is probably best to start looking. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/
The Venue
No food or drink, other than water to be taken onto the pitches. There are tables and chairs outside the hall. Please tidy up your rubbish as well.Calls are to be kept away from main doors and the doors to the gym in order to avoid getting in the way of the other leisure centre users and staff. Please ask all your team not to play with any of the other sports equipment stored at venue. In previous years we have had complaints about this and it could affect us hiring the venue in future.
Venue Facilities
The venue has plenty of parking, showers and changing rooms. There will be other people going backwards and forwards in the centres, so please have a bit of respect for them. There are some vending machines in the sports centre, and a Sainsbury’s
and a Tescos about a 5 min walk from the venue, as well as loads of pubs, bars, restaurants, etc. There is also a German market in the city center square, only 5 minute walk away.
Directions
If you are heading towards the NIA by car, the parking costs at the NIA are about £8 per day, and we have no control over traffic wardens and the like. They may come around at any time and start ticketing people. Therefore if you do park there, then pay the money, or take your choice. Remember to bring coins to pay for this, the staff can’t give change.
Alternatively, you could get a bus/train into the City Centre from wherever you are coming from. The NIA is only a few mins from New Street Station, and is on loads of bus routes. It may save you money and hassle. Have a look at www.centro.org.uk for details of public transport around Birmingham.
If you are coming from a little further away by car, then you could also try the park& ride scheme that Centro operate. You are allowed to park your car for free in the participating stations in the Centro zone, and can then get a train into town. (Tickets start at £1.20 return apparently, and Central trains do a discounted group ticket for 3-4 people)
If you really want to drive:
NIA – from anywhere
Get to junction 6 of the M6. Get on the A38M into Birmingham City Centre. Follow this down the Aston Expressway, and then start following signs for the NIA and North Car Park basically. Have a look at this picture. We are at the top of it at the corner of St Vincent Street and King Edwards Road.
The address is B1 2AA.
Contact Numbers
If you have any problems at all that we can help with, then number is:
