RE: [Florida_Judo] Jan 28 FJI meeting

I would strongly suggest that we do the awards banquet event on the 28th in conjunction with the meeting on the 28th rather than having them on 2 separate weekends.

It was my understanding from the e-mail I received that the meeting on the 28th was to be an FJI special meeting to vote on new by laws that would be acceptable to USA Judo.

I fully agree that athletes should be recognized. I was the first member and officer to make this proposal back in the late 1990 when we were not doing anything for the athletes. And I was the first on the 2003 executive committee to support Mr. Lopez’s resolution to provide funding for the athletes.

It was approved my its members on December 3rd, 2005, to have a special meeting on January 21, 2006, in Central Florida to discuss all issues with Florida Judo Inc., and its bylaws in conjunction with the 2006 Junior Awards Luncheon, which will be held at Central Florida Judo and Jujitsu Dojo, 248 Hatteras Blvd., Clermont, Fl. and is being held by Bill Andreas.  The special meeting will start at 1:00 pm and the Awards Luncheon will begin at 4:00 pm.

To Club Coaches & Officials:

I want to take this opportunity to address this Awards Luncheon. I have agreed to host this event on short notice here in Central Florida. In spite of all the politics Florida has some of the best judoka in the USA. It is for this reason that I am holding the awards Luncheon. It is for the players that spend there time and energy to better themselves and there lives thru Judo. We are the coaches and leaders of Florida Judo club's. I think we owe them that much. To show them we do care about there future in judo. So for one day I'd like to see them get there just due. They have worked hard this year an our players deserve a special moment .

My dojo is open to any idea. I was asked to host this event on the 21 of Jan / I am hosting the JFI event on the 28th. If we could combine the two that would even be better for all. However to make this happen. I will need to know who will be attending. We will be having a catered event and I need to plan the food menu. If I need to cancel the 21 I need to know by Monday.  I need to request space for the meeting & Awards.

John Fiege requested that we might hold a workout for some of the Juniors afterwards. I have the mat and the space My dojo is open for those that want to stay afterwards. E mail below.

respectfully,

William E Andreas

Hello Bill,

I've just read David Ellis email and would like to ask you a question. I would like to come to the meeting and participate. Now I've also been looking for opportunities to have some of my competition kids gain some experience with club meets.

Since we will probably have a good number of clubs represented at the meeting do you think it might be a fun idea to have a randori hour for kids?

My goal is to have a club meet once a month for the central/north Florida clubs. Location should be alternated between the participating dojo's.

I think this would help a lot in raising the level of kids judo in our region and prepare them for competition with the south Florida kids.

Once we've done the first club meet, hopefully at the 28th, I think it will be easier to make it a regular thing.

Let me know what you think.

Sincerely,

John Fiege

Judo Ryu Jacksonville.
