FOR:
Green belts and higher in any art, even if not a USJA member. (Certification is
for brown belts and above. Green belts may attend and submit paperwork upon
promotion to brown.) If you are not certified as a Coach or your credential has
expired, you put yourself and your club at risk! Generally taught at camps,
this course is offered for those unable to attend camp. You need not be a
member of anything to qualify for this important credential, but if you are a
USJA member, bring your membership card. You need not join anything. You NEVER
will find such an opportunity, with course, books, and badges provided. Do not
miss this!
WHEN:
Saturday, January 15, 2005, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. We will complete the course in one
day, with a short break to order in lunch. Respect others by being punctual.
LOCATION:
Central Florida Judo and Jujitsu, 248 Hatteras Avenue, Clermont, FL.
COST:
USJA Certification fee: $25. Clinic fee: $25.
Texts will be furnished without charge.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Bring your uniform. Those wanting / needing Coach badges for mat-side coaching
can obtain this FREE as part of the course. Certification fee covers the cost
of certificate and uniform patch.
INSTRUCTOR:
Ronald Allan Charles, 7th degree black belt in judo and 6th degree black belt in
jujitsu, is a Master Coach, Master Rank Examiner and National Level Kata
Instructor and Judge, licensed to certify others in these areas. He is a
Regional III Level Referee and serves as Chairman of the Awards Committee,
President of South Carolina Judo, Incorporated, and General State Development
Director for Judo. During the summer he serves on coaching staffs at Judo camps
throughout the country.
Charles Sensei specializes in teaching teachers how to teach and is a leading
instructor on the USJA Coach Education Committee. He has taught judo worldwide
to civilians, police, and the military and at public schools, colleges, and
universities during 8 years of adventure travel to 83 countries.
Dr. Charles has been teaching judo for 43 years, earning his first black belt
degree from the prestigious Kodokan Judo Institute in Tokyo and his Ph.D. in
Education from USC. He studied in Japan under Kotani Sensei at the Kodokan Judo
Institute. Kotani Sensei, 10th degree black belt, had studied under the founder
of Judo, Dr. Kano. That makes Charles Sensei the "grand student" of Dr. Kano.
Charles Sensei's students are Dr. Kano’s "great-grand students"!
