Due to the oustanding show of support, we are very proud to announce the
2006 US OPEN Technical Official Training Clinic
We are are almost halfway there folks. We have about 25 people committed to helping out, but we need 60 for all three days. We have gotten good feedback for our training clinic so we are going ahead with it. David and I just got back from Harlingen, Texas where we went to work as referees at the Fall Classic/Ladder Tournament. When we got there we found that there were almost NO technical officials, so we put on an improvised training session with those willing to help out early Saturday morning and the weekend ended up being a BIG SUCCESS and everyone had lots of fun!
We are going to do a "mock" tournament to get everyone some real-time experience on brackets, scoring, timing, etc. . . We are going to be running six mats at the US Open, two will be computer scoreboards and four will be the electronic scoreboards. We are trying to arrange to have one of the electronic scoreboards dropped of at Bill's dojo for our training purposes - these are very easy machines to operate. The training clinic should be a lot of fun in itself and I encourage everyone who is planning on helping out at the US Open to come to this clinic so we will all look like pros. Even though it doesn't cost you a cent, it is a sanctioned event so you will even pick up a promotional point!
