European Premiers
Congratulations to the following teams for winning their respective
competitions. As we all know
it's a lot of hard work so well done to all involved:
Great Britain (BARFL) - West London Wildcats
Denmark (DAFL) - Farum Cats
Scotland (SARFL) - Edinburgh Bodysnatchers
Sweden (Skane) - Malmö
Ireland (ARFLI) - South Dublin Swans
Germany (AFLG) - Munich Kangaroos
Denmark v Germany
Not a great result for Germany, only managing to score 4 points against a
ruthless Denmark, who
piled on 201 points against the Germans. Full details are available at
www.thefootyrecord.net/match.php?id=1241&acct=INTL
<http://www.thefootyrecord.net/match.php?id=1241&
acct=INTL> (the scores are yet to appear on the AFLG website J)
Germany's next match is against Sweden on October 7 at Gold Beach, Landskrona in
Sweden and no
doubt they will be looking to restore some pride to the German jumper.
Denmark v Sweden
Denmark are playing Sweden at Farum this weekend. This promises to be a cracker
of a game,
following their draw in their last match. More details are available at
www.dafl.dk
King Canute Cup
On September 17, 2006 history was made in Copenhagen when the England
Dragonslayers took on the
Denmark Vikings. It was Europe's first international junior Aussie Rules match
(Under 14). Up for
grabs was the inaugural King Canute Cup.
In a major upset, the Dragonslayers 6.10 (46) defeated the Vikings 0.6 (6). More

CEAFL Championships
Saturday 16th September saw the Central European Australian Football League
(CEAFL) Championships
take place in Prague, Czech Republic. Teams from Austria, Croatia, Finland,
France and host nation,
Czech Republic, contested the round robin style tournament. Finland and Croatia
finished equal
first, each with 12 points from a possible 16, deservedly winning the chance to
fight it out
against each other in the Grand Final.
Under the lights, the game started very close, with only a few points separating
the teams at half
time. In the second half, it was the Finnish Lions who found top gear and pulled
away with a
dazzling display of teamwork and skill to run out winners in their first CEAFL
Championship.
