For those of you coming out this weekend, here is an update.

 

The event is coming together well.  It looks like we won't have snow for this event, but as everyone knows, anything can happen and it doesn't take much to make an event challenging.  No matter what happens, it should be a good time!

 

I went out and drove the first half of the rally last night. The roads are in surprisingly good shape.  There are some rough spots, but most of the first half roads are hard and smooth.  I did see some snow on the side of the roads, maybe I can push some in the middle of the road for the first cars through!!!??!

 

FOOD UPDATE:

Peter's Party Complex is very accommodating with hosting our events.  We have arranged for a typical buffet since there is no other food in the area.  The buffet will be $10/person payable when you register.  We had to commit to a minimum of 30 people for the buffet, so please plan on eating with us if you can. 

 

TIMING UPDATE:

Please note that this event is 1/2 hour earlier than normal.  The intention was to make the finish more reasonable.  That turns out to be a good thing.  Peter's is requesting that we be done about 12:30 if possible.  That should be enough time.  The good news for the competitors is that it shouldn't be exceedingly late for awards, so please plan on hanging out with us for awards (and food!).  (The first car should be back about 11PM.)

The first rally of the Finger Lakes Region Winter Rally Series will be help on Saturday, January 6th.  We hope you can join us.

The Long Way Home ‘07

January 6, 2007

 

A rally of approximately 160 competitive (200 total) miles using paved and unpaved roads in the New York Southern Tier.

 

The Rally starts and ends at Peter’s Party Complex www.peterspartycomplex.com in Leicester, NY (on route 36 North of Mount Morris).  From route 390, exit 7, travel West about two miles then three miles North on route 36.  Peter’s will be on your left.

 

Entry fees are $30/car for SCCA members, $40/car for guests. There is a 35 car limit, so pre-registration is recommended.  Series classes are Equipped, Limited, Stock, and Novice.

 

Snow tires are recommended (all season tires may limit your speed group eligibility), tow rope/strap, and 90 minutes of flares or one DOT triangle are required to compete.

 

Schedule:      

Registration               3:30 to 4:30 PM      NOTE earlier time!

Novice school            4:00 PM

Driver’s Meeting        4:30 PM

First car starts           5:01 PM

First car finishes        about 11:00 PM
