Greetings,
I am an ex-Sedgleyite living in Michigan, and I am here to tell you about a
super cool disc golf web site that is totally free and awesome. I am not
scamming anyone. I used to play tags and dubs at Sedgley and eat the soup and
everything. How is EMann doing?
Anyway, you can make a profile for yourself, keep track of league stats and do a
bunch more. Come check it out. Like I said, it's free and it's fun. Also, I
know the guy who runs the site and he is very cool and willing to tweak things
if someone has a legitimate request.
Peace,
JD

It took me until now to even see your post. Does that mean I'm
looking at 2037?
I was hoping to go to Tockwogh, but without a cottage, the wife
vetoed.
On a brigther note, Libby made a nice putt on hole 9 last Sunday. She
also "completed" Blue hole 6 (with only about 60-80 feet of walking
up) in about 11 throws or so. A funny thing happened while playing
hole 10. A game of hide-and-seek broke out. So much for getting in a
few holes....
I think I'm gonna have to buy one of those soft-grip, faux-leather,
cushion thingies for the steering wheel, maybe a leopard print.

I played the new course yesterday morning and the new Fly Pad teepads
are indeed fantastic! Not only are there rubber tee pads down, but
there is a huge *level* teeing area built up around the tee on nearly
every hole. Thanks to all who are laboring to make this new world
class course happen!

Are the new pads stoned as well? FSW has stoned pads too, stoned.
Every course should have at least one stoned padded hole.

While both new courses are *spectacular* there is a huge difference in
par, scoring, and challenge. From all long tees to long pins, the SSA
at Iron Hill is likely going to clock in near 70. Whereas at French
Creek, there are still many more deucable par 3 three holes, and the
SSA there will likely be in the low to mid 60s.

oops -- hit "send" too soon.
Obviously the newest version of French Creek is much more difficult.
The tee pads are better. If you're going to go for the first time make
sure that you're there with someone that's familiar with the lay-out.
We were unable to park anywhere near the course -- the park may have
been trying to keep us out since shot-gun season had starter or maybe
they were just lazy on a rainy day about opening the gate to the back,
I don't know -- hopefully it was just a one time thing.
The walk from 18's basket to the 1st tee is really really long. If the
huge parking lot that you have to walk through ever gets re-opened it
would make it much less difficult to walk since you could park in the
middle. If you're ever playing in a tournament there make sure to tip
the TD to try to start on the back nine since otherwise you'll be
making the hike up the hill twice -- ouch.
Better than IH? Personal preference -- no. #3 is a great basket -- and
whatever the basket is with the island green is a great basket. Every
bit of the course is heavily wooded and the fairways are more narrow
than IH's on average. IH's tee pads are better but the rubber mats at
the new French Creek are WAY better than any previous tee pad at FC by
about a billion times. The French Creek guys have really done some
great work -- it'll be interesting what kind of a reception the new
course gets as they remove the last old course. When we were there
yesterday no one was playing the new baskets except us and the old
course had a couple of herds of golfers on it -- may have been because
of the parking thing -- may have been because of the hardness of the
layout . . .dunno.
Iron Hill has a couple baskets in the open (3 and 4). Iron Hill is
also much easier to get to being right off the highway.
FC is certainly worth playing. Scoring in the 60's is a good round . .
.I didn't. Schoettle kicked my ass.
To each their own -- it would be a fun day to play both and see which
one you score lower on . .. I'm guessing there's not much difference
between the two.

JGB , I dont know when you were down there but most of the new holes
have GREAT TEE PADS at this point . They are stoned around and
layered with a Fly pad material at 1/3 the cost of fly pads .
I have always blasted the FC tee pads in the past but the one that
are there now are just FABULOUS . I was there for the French Creek
Autumn open in early NOV and there were about 8 tee pads done on the
new course .

I played most of the new layout, and yes it's got some very serious
signature holes that are outstanding. Paired with this are the worst tee
boxes on the east coast. There is no comparison to IHs gorgeous tees. If
French Creek can get concrete, or fly mats, or even some
basic maintenance on the exiting tees.....
