I don't want to lower the number of players for an official tag
round, 7 is just fine.
I think you miss understood what I was proposing.
1. Their would be no change in the 1 tag having to played every 10
days (that is constant).
My assumption is correct. It can not flaw the scoring system at all.
Scenario:
On Wednesday the 1 tag holder (bob) plays against the 4 tag holder
(joe). The 4 tag holder (joe) wins. So they switch tags.
On Thursday they both play in tags, they tie for the lead and the
tie goes to the 1 tag holder (joe). How does this mess up scoring?
thanks

I understand what you're saying. You're not understanding what I'm saying. Try
this scenario. You have the 50 tag. You play against the one tag on Wednesday
and win. You now show up and play the Thursday tag round. You tie the 2 tag
holder (someone uninvolved with your Wednesday match) for the low score of the
tournament. You get the one tag and he gets the 2 again. He didn't get in on
your twosome match the day before. It's not fair that you only had to beat one
guy to get the lower tag and have the advantage of the ties. It's also to your
advantage since you get to play in the lead group instead of playing in a group
with higher tagged golfers. These things mess up the scoring. You don't have to
believe it -- but I do and I think you're wrong. I failed to mention that with
the low tag you also get to call a layout that you prefer -- adding to your
ill-begotten advantage even more.
I don't see this change encouraging more participation of the 1-10 tags. In
addition, it would be too easy to abuse.
Either way -- neither of us is going to be the tag tsar anytime soon so this
hypothetical discussion has come at least 1/2 way to a close -- I'm sure you'll
have the last word cuz I'm done.
