This Yahoo group is designed to honor Jon Trenge, an outstanding amateur wrestler who was a two-time Pennsylvania high school state champ, a three-time NCAA All-American at Lehigh University, and wrestled in freestyle competition.
A native of Orefield, PA, Jon built a 145-16 record at Parkland High School, emding his senior year with a perfect 40-0 record, and winning the state title his junior and senior years. He placed first in the 1999 NHSCA championships, and was the nation's top 197 recruit in 1999.
At Lehigh, Jon compiled a 149-31 overall record -- making him the winningest wrestler in school history. An incredible 42 of Jon's wins were by pin. He was a two-time NCAA finalist at 197 pounds, taking on college champs such as Cael Sanderson and Damion Hahn.
Jon courageously competed with a serious affliction -- detached retinas. This condition -- which forced him to wear unique goggles crafted by his dad when wrestling -- was detected when he was at Lehigh. There was always the concern that an injury could cause him to go blind.
Now Jon is an assistant wrestling coach for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks... and is the subject of an excellent new documentary titled "Veritas" which you can purchase on DVD. (Visit their website at http://www.veritas-movie.com/)
