Men's Fours moves to Thursday night next season, but only for this
coming season, because the Seminary will not be available for the
first 6 Tuesdays of the year.

I can schedule teams to play Coed 6's and Mens on the same night, and
I plan on having the league tourney for Mens the week after all the
Coed tourneys are done so there will be no conflict issues (since
Mens moves back to Tuesdays for the Spring that can be easily
arranged).

It also looks like I'll shoot to have 3 divisions next season.  If
the same teams sign up for next season I envision it looking

The champ of the Monday "B" Tourney will play in the "A" Tourney the
following week.  The team "Net Surfers" has been moved to the "B"
field.  Men's Tourneys will be at the Seminary.

Fair Play does offer Youth Volleyball Leagues. It is not a club. We
will have a Monday league for girls or boys from approximately 10 years
old and up. Leagues will be at Spiece and start January 7th. It costs
$45 per player. There is just a league format. There are no coaches.

I am making a concerted effort this week to remind teams that still
owe that they still owe.  If not paid by this Friday your team gets
four extra losses added to your record.  If not by the Monday after
Thanksgiving then your team starts in the losers' bracket of the
double elimination league tourney.

I have posted this info at the sites, have sent out a mass email,
posted it on websites and on the schedules.  Everyone should know.
Don't take special offense if I walk up to you and tell you that there is a
penalty for your team if not paid by a certain date.  I am telling everyone in
that category.

And also I would like to ask that the preferred method of payment is
by the league captain in full.  You can also pay online at
www.fairplaybeach.com or mail payment to 11917 Saint Joe Road,
Grabill, In.  46741.

I even accepted payment of all quarters last night.  I don't prefer
that at all, but as long as it doesn't happen often I can deal with
it.

On site you can leave payment with the refs.  If you're giving me the
money you can simply HAND me the money (rather than throwing the
money with a bad attitude on the floor in front of me).   I have the
right to refuse service to anyone who has a bad attitude about paying
as I will consider them a liability risk (Just like if someone has a
bad attitude about signing a waiver).

I just got word that Concordia now won't be available on November 4th
due to a Gymnastics Meet. We will have to start the Sunday league now
on November 11th.

For the Winter Season that begins the first week of January, 2008 the
Men's Fours league that usually plays on Tuesday nights at Spiece will
have to be moved to Thursday nights.  This is only temporary due to not
having court space available at the Seminary for the first six weeks of
2008.  This is also due to the Coed league on Tuesday exploding (31
coed teams each on Tuesday and Thursday, 34 on Wednesday).

The Tuesday Men's Fours league will return to Tuesday nights in the
spring.  Anyone who plans on playing Coed and Men's on Thursday in the
Winter Season I will work with on making sure their matches don't
conflict...

I'm getting some late interest from players for playing in the women's
fours on Monday.  If you are an individual looking to play let me know
asap.

There's also still time to get in the Men's Fours on Tuesday and the
Reverse Coed Fours on Friday, as well as the Women's Sixes on Wednesday
and the Sunday Coed Sixes.  I need to know most quickly for the Women's
Fours on Monday.

It will start at 11 am.  It will be $10 per player at River City.

We had a tourney with 5 teams on the 13th.  It was 64 degrees and
sunny, and it was just fine.  As long as its over 60 degrees and/or
sunny we will have coed doubles tourneys every other week until
December if its viable... thanks to global warming.

I may need to start the Sunday leagues on November 4th instead of
October 21st because Oct. 21st and 28th aren't available at Concordia.
I'm checking on other sites.  If we start November 4th teams will play
3 matches a night (except for one date) and 14 matches will still be
played for the league.

On Monday girls teams are encouraged to simply join the Women's

players involved with high school volleyball teams to participate in
the fall leagues for Fair Play. Additionally, byes may be given the

Okay that was a great time. We would like to thank everyone that made
the 1st Annual St. Jude's End of Summer Volleyball Festival a huge
success. Thank you to all of the participants in the tournaments over
the weekend. Thank you to Mike Harvey for allowing us to use his
facility free of charge. Thank you to Jung Lee for providing all of
the great prizes and the delicious beer. Thank you to Cassandra
Malcolm for designing the t-shirts for our event free of charge.
Thank you to John Lecy for giving up his Saturday to help out with
everything I really did not want to do. Thank you to Jared Busch,
your bartender for the coed sixes tourney, for also giving up his
Saturday to hand out the delicious beer.

When we were first putting together the idea for this charity event
we set a high goal of $1,000 big ones. We thought that was a lofty
goal but wanted to give it a try. With all of your help we raised
$1810.00. All of which will be donated to St. Jude's Children's
Hospital. Thanks again to all of you who played and helped us out. We
could not have done it without you. We really appreciate it and hope
to see you all again next year.
