Mastodons Take Win #14 Over Jackrabbits

Brookings, SD - The Mastodons were off to an easy start on their
14th win when South Dakota State put a wrench in it. IPFW overcame
the Jackrabbits in five games.

Games one and two belonged to the Mastodons and going into three,
the Jackrabbits surged forward and defeated IPFW. SDSU took game
four forcing a game five. The Mastodons succeeded finishing with
final scores of 30-25, 30-26, 28-30, 28-30, 15-10.

Three Mastodons finished the night with double-doubles and four Dons
had double digit kills. Fabiana Souza recorded her double-double
with 23 kills and 11 digs. She hit a .304 for the evening.

Cynara Martins was close behind Souza with 22 kills and 12 digs.
Nicole Howell returned to the lineup and knocked down 13 kills and
hit a .303. Jessica Miller rounded out the Dons in double figures
with 10 kills.

Erika Leitzke hit her double-double with 44 assists and 11 digs.
Peachy Jankowski led IPFW in digs with 16 balls.

Blocking was in full force Saturday night. Claire Jackson had seven
block assists while Howell had one solo and six assists. Souza put
up two solos and four assists.

For South Dakota State, Minette Ridenour knocked down 20 kills while
Amy Anderson and Kristina Martin each had 17 kills. Kristie Klusaw
put up 73 assists and Ridenour dug up 19 balls.

The Mastodons will travel to Bowling Green State University on
Wednesday, October 12 starting at 7 pm. They will then host a three
match home stint from next Saturday through Tuesday featuring Wright
State, Indiana State and Eastern Michigan.
