As far as I know, the regatta is still being held Saturday, June 15, at the
Wellington Rowing Center in Palm Beach.
I don't know of any organizers or point of contact other than what is
available on the SSG website.

Brice,
Do you know if anything has chaged for this event like the location? Do you
know who is running it? I sent in 13 entry forms and was hoping I could get
confirmation that they were received.
thanks

Here is the first copy of the schedule. Let me know if there are any
changes. It is quite difficult to figure out whom is rowing with whom based
on the ridiculous sign up sheet they have. If you know your club does not
have more than one entry in a race, please let me know. Only tell me
changes you know for a fact though please.
Also, I am on my way down to West Palm now. We still might be rowing at the
Palm Beach Rowing Club. It has been relayed to me that this would be a much
better location. However, I don't know if I have the authority to switch
venues. I will know by tonight. Sorry for getting this information out to
you so late, but they only asked me to do this a week ago. No matter what,
we will have a good time and fun racing. We always do.
On another note, if any group is interested in running a concession stand,
please contact me. I am also going to need a couple of launches if someone
could supply them. I will be getting back to you soon, and I will probably
have some more requests. Thanks for your patience.
For those of you interested in the Central Florida Rowing Camp, we have some
openings still available. Our new location will be at ORC on Lake Fairview,
and while we are not offering overnight housing, there are some very
affordable places nearby. I will have information at the regatta with a
sign up sheet.
Thanks,
Dan
Ps- If you could forward this onto anyone who might need it I would
appreciate it. I have not received any contact list for anyone.

Here is the updated schedule. If you know of any more changes, let me know.
I will do my best. All races are going to be 1000m. I don't think that
will be a problem since 90% of our races are masters races, and almost
everyone is rowing 2-3 times.
Also, I am still looking for use of a launch on race day. If anyone can
help out, let me know. Also, for those of you not familiar with the
location, here are the directions:
Take 95 to Forest Hills Blvd. Head West. You will cross over 441. Go past
the Publix, and turn left into the area that says "Wellngton Community
Center." Parking should not be too bad, but some of the larger trailers
might want to get there early.
I am going to try and pick up the shirts on Friday, but if they won't let
me, someone from your club is going to have to pick them up from the Palm
Beach Fairgrounds. It's not too far away, but it's something I am trying to
avoid.
Let me know if you have any questions, and I will see all of you on
Saturday.
Thanks,
Dan
Here is the final copy of the schedule. I have tried to accomidate
everyone. It hasn't been easy. We are very limited by the course, so at
this time, I would like to only accept scratches. I look forward to seeing
everyone on Saturday, and hope that everyone has a good time.
Thanks,
Dan

Coaches..
I hope that the summer is going well..
I would like to have an unofficial FSRA meeting at the end of July. I say
unofficial because there will be no voting at the meeting. We will however
discuss the regatta season and select dates for them, the regatta directors
for your regattas should be present. We will also discuss where we are going
in the state of Florida, and where we want to be. Its time to kick it up a
notch. This meeting will be to discuss what we will be voting on in the
fall. This gives everybody time to talk and think before the voting meeting.
This meeting is important to anybody who wants to have a say.
Thanks
Bram.
I will contact Rollins and come back with a firm date..

Dear Bram - I have been given the responsibility to search for a number of rowing sites throughout the state that would be able to accommodate the FIRA State Championships. The criteria required is as follows: minimum of 2400 meters in length, minimum of 600 meters in width, minimum of 3 meters in depth. Access is required with minimum motor boat use. (Not asking too much are we?) I do not have the e-mails of all the high schools in the state, but I thought you might. If you think it would be worth asking if any of the coaches or parents might be able to give me some feedback on possible sites please pass on the note. I appreciate your help and look forward to your response.

Hi everyone!
OARS is trying to go to the Head of the Tennessee regatta in
October....is there anyone out there who is going who would like to
share a trailer up? Let me know!

Hi Gang..
The meeting will be held on September 21st at the Bush Science Building but
not in room 108. It will be in the auditorium. Same building different room.
All of the points of discussions have been on our web site since our last
get together. I hope that you have all been thinking about them and
discussing them with each other.
Please let me know if I need to put anybody on the ballot for election.
Please try to think for the good of Florida rowing and not your own
interests, we need to make the boats in the state faster, which means more
recruiting, more competition in the varsity level, better coaching and
harder work.
I look forward to seeing all of you at our meeting..
Regards
Bram.
ps. Please remember to bring your dues, and your regatta directors..
There will be a coxswain clinic held on Saturday Sept. 28 at Stetson
University. For details go to the Stetson Crew Website

Hi,
just came back from a trip to Peru with Dr. Berti,
president of our club and rower as well.
We met with a fellow rower from Peru, that his family
has been building boats for more than 30 years.
They are making great singles, in honey comb and
carbon f carbon fibre. the boat weight is near 13kg
(28.6 lbs) and is very rigid and resistant.
We tried it on the water and it was a very pleasant
experience. Very easy to row and the sliding of the
boat was great.
We are getting a couple of boats for our club. I
recomend you to give it a chance if you are interested
in getting a easy to row and long lasting single.
I am including a picture of the boat, the one that is
on it is the builder of the boat, he onsider it his
baby.
The second pic is was taken by Dr Berti and is the
inside of the boat.
If you are interested in getting more info just reply
these mail.
On January we will be hosting the Devil's Half Mile
Regatta, it will be the 3rd edition and the 20th
aniversary of the ABC as well. Will be a great rowing
event.

We all know the difficulties associated with supporting a sport that is
unfamiliar to the general public and receives very little positive attention
in the press. The University of Central Florida is currently battling with
home owners on Lake Picket over the use of the lake and the building of a
new boat house. Instead of condemning the school and it's "elitist" rowers,
Mr. Thomas with the Orlando Sentinel has written a wonderful article
praising the athletes and scolding the home owners.
