Sorry if this is a duplicate email...

This message is going out to all FSRA groups.

Sorry if this is a duplicate message.  Some additional notes came in from the University regarding the parking situation at Clemente while construction is going on:

  • Parking Lot – Construction!
    • Parking is SEVERELY limited directly in front of the Clemente Center due to construction
    • Buses will not be able to pull in or turn around directly in front of the building
    • Handicap parking is affected
    • A parking map of campus is available at: http://www.fit.edu/security/documents/Map%202011.pdf
    • It is recommended that buses come in from Babcock Street onto Panther Place and drop off teams at the corner of Building 42 (the pool under construction).  Buses can park in the overflow area(s) marked on the map.
  • Downtown Melbourne – Traffic Warning
  • Smoothies are available for purchase at the Center Court Café in the Clemente Center
  • FIT has a new dining hall open to the public (just south of the Clemente Center).

Hello,

We are using contact information based on last year's regatta.  If you are no longer involved with high school rowing we would appreciate you forwarding this along to the correct contact person.

Please take a few minutes to check out the redesigned SRAA website.  On the left hand side of the home page you can sign up to receive email updates when a new post is made.  It is a simple way to keep up-to-date on the 2011 Regatta.

Most importantly, read the lightweight rules.  This year all lightweights and potential lightweights (ie substitutes) must have submitted the lightweight health certificate prior to the regatta.  All lightweights must be certified by an athletic trainer between August 15, 2010 and March 15, 2011 in order to row as a lightweight at the SRAA regatta.  If your school does not have an athletic trainer then you may contract with a private trainer to perform the assessment.

The lightweight health certificate can be completed online by the trainer directly from our website.  Alternately you can print out the form to be filled out and submit it via snail mail.

We would prefer the weigh in form to be filled out online. If you have a trainer that will be doing multiple assessments then you may email the trainer's contact information to: contact@.... We will add their name to the web form to help simplify the process.

If you have any question regarding the website please email contact@....

Please forward to any high school rowing programs in your area.

Thank you and have a great season!

Good afternoon, Coaches!

We hope this email finds you well. We are contacting you to get the word out
about our technical development camp that will be held the weekend of Thursday
July 28 through Sunday July 31, 2011. We are catering this camp towards male

designed for the athletes to experience the "life of a college athlete". They
will be housed on campus, run to and from the boathouse which is less than a
mile away from campus, and engage in on-campus activities between training
sessions. The attached flyer provides an overview to the camp and we welcome
any additional questions. We look forward to making this an enjoyable
experience on and off the water for your athletes.

Please pass this email along to your teams as well as the flyer

Space is limited but we hope to accommodate everyone that is interested in
joining us!

I would also encourage the clubs to book their hotel accommodations as soon as possible.  There will be a huge soccer tournament for the same weekend not too far from the facility and they will start booking in the first week of April once they know they qualify.  We also have some smaller events going on, and hotels rooms are moving quickly.

Rebeca, all FSRA

For future reference, please don’t contact NOARA as the FSRA waiver is for FSRA use and they will not be able to answer your questions.

If you have new athletes, have their parents submit a waiver at http://www.noara.org/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=waiver_fl_scholastic

The current waiver is in effect from July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011. It does not matter if an athlete has multiple waivers on file.

The most important factor is all current athletes have a waiver on file with your team selected. Your coaching staff can down load a team list for verification. You can ignore athletes no longer on your team.

It does not matter if former team athletes have a waiver on file. We don’t delete waivers as the waiver may have applied to a past event. Waivers will be archived at the end of the season and will be kept on file for 3 to 7 years.

For regatta directors, non-FSRA (masters and out-of-state) regatta participants should use the unaffiliated team designation.  This means they are covered at  FSRA insured regattas but they are not members of a FSRA member team.

Any other questions should be directed to your coach or me, not NOARA.

Thanks, Brice

OARS Invitational Attendees,

Attached you will find the schedule for the 2011 OARS Invitational Regatta.  We’ve got approximately 1,200 athletes racing from 29 teams in 65 flights!  The weather report looks good for Saturday; sunny, high 40’s in the morning increasing to the low 70s by the afternoon. Northwest winds around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

We’ve worked hard to accommodate all your requests for scheduling & apologize if the schedule for your racing isn’t perfect! It can be difficult to accommodate everyone in every scenario.  Please double check your entries to confirm that we have not made any errors with each event you've entered and let us know quickly if we have.

You may notice that the LOC has approved the request of some of you to row "B" boats as exhibition as well as a brand new team joining Florida Rowing!  This will be the first regatta for Palmetto High; all of their rowers will be racing in the novice category so they don't lose eligibility at any future events.  Welcome Palmetto!

At this point, we are not accepting any more additions or changes to the schedule except for scratches ($25 scratch fee per boat).

As you make last minute preparations, please take time to review parking & arrival procedures:

* The address of Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake is 3401 Hiawassee Road, Orlando FL 32835.

* There is a $4.00 per vehicle fee to enter the park and a $30 fee per bus.

* The course will be open for practice on Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m..

* Boat trailer parking is available on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The gated entrance to the park is locked at 6:00 p.m. If you will be arriving after hours with a boat trailer please contact Ed Sabis at 321-276-1063.

* Bus Drivers –We are handling busses the same way this year as we did last year. After entering the park follow the road to the main parking area; our volunteers will direct you to the Bus Drop-off Area.

- PLEASE unload your passengers and gear at the Bus Drop-off Area. Please do not drop your passengers off outside the Main Parking Lot.

- After drop-off, OARS parking volunteers will direct you to Parking Lot 6. Please Note: Due to the proximity of the animals to Pavilion 6 and the proximity of the campground to the main parking lot, we ask that you turn your engines off as much as

possible. Thank you.

Thanks again for attending the 2011 OARS Regatta. We look forward to a successful weekend of racing!

It has been suggested that strokes (and bow in bow loaded fours) should accompany the coxswain to the C&C meeting. This will allow them to learn what the flags mean and be able to communicate properly to their coxswain during the race. Tomorrow’s OARS regatta would be great opportunity for this to happen.

I’m still sorting out logistical details with Sarasota County. The 2 key items to be aware of are as follows.

Good morning, Coaches!

I hope this email finds you well. I realize you all get a lot of excess emails,
but I hope you take a moment to look through this one.

I am contacting you in the hope to remind you about our technical development
camp that will be held the weekend of Thursday July 28 through Sunday July 31,
2011. We are catering this camp towards male and female athletes who will be
completing their competitive summer season at US Rowing Club Nationals. It is
designed for your experienced/skilled rising juniors and seniors that are
interested in rowing in college. The camp is designed for the athletes to
experience the "life of a college athlete". They will be housed on campus, run
to and from the boathouse which is less than a mile away from campus, and engage
in on-campus activities between training sessions. The attached flyer provides
an overview to the camp and I welcome any additional questions. I look forward
to making this an enjoyable experience on and off the water for your athletes.

Please pass this email along to your teams as well as the flyer

Space is limited but we hope to accommodate everyone that is interested in
joining us!

Thank you for your time,

Pioneer Navy Technical Sweep Camp coaching staff
