Coaches and members,

 

I have just returned from Beijing and wanted to share with you my thoughts about our Olympic Rowing Team.

 

While we may have fallen short of the 4 medal goal we set for ourselves, I am extremely enthusiastic about our athletes. We had 3 medals: gold Women’s Eight, Slver, Women’s Single and Bronze Men’s eight. In addition, out of the 14 events, we had 7 teams competing in the finals.  Our M4 was in the B final with the medalists from 2007 worlds. In short, we followed our plan but we have much work to do especially in sculling and with the small boats. I think it is very appropriate as we are staring to accomplish is for junior organizations such as FSRA to begin to focus more on sculling and small boat events. After all our juniors are the future of our sport.  

 

 

I will be attending the FSRA meeting on Saturday and would be glad to hear any of your comments about this subject.
