For discussion this Saturday is funding for 3 more lines to complete the buoy lines on the Tampa By-pass Canal. For course traffic safety, we are recommending the existing line between lane 0 (warm-up lane going to the start area) and race lane 1 be switched from white to red buoys. Also, we are recommending the first 100 meters (start area breakage zone) be identified with all red buoys. The existing white buoys being replaced with these recommendations can be reused on the new buoy lines.
Standard course configuration calls for the last 250 meters to be identified with contrasting colored buoys. As this course has 2 race distance lengths (1500m for FSRA and 1850m for Youth Regionals and college races), there are 2 finish line zones. If FSRA approves any amount of funding, I suggest we recommend both zones be identified with red buoys, and again reusing existing white buoys on the new buoy lines.
