Subject: USRA Governance Update

 

This email is to provide an update on where we are in the governance process.

 

On July 19, the Special meeting was held in Camden.  Only 69 of our 997 organizational members cast ballots or attended the meeting.  This is far short of the 499 needed for a quorum.  Per Pennsylvania statutes, the meeting was briefly adjourned and a first adjourned meeting called to order.  This first adjourned meeting was then adjourned to a second meeting.  The second adjourned meeting is scheduled to be held at 12:00 noon on August 22 at USRowing’s Princeton Offices.  The only thing that can be considered at this meeting is the proposed governance documents.

 

Last week, the required notice was of the second adjourned meeting was emailed to all organizational members eligible to vote.  This week the same notice will be sent to all organizations postal mail.  With this required notice, the organizations that cast votes, either absentee or in person, will constitute a quorum regardless of the actual number voting. 

 

Ballots that were previously submitted for the July 19 meeting will be carried forward to the second adjourned meeting.  In other words, if an organization has already submitted a ballot, then they do not need to do anything, unless they want to change their vote.

 

Due to the August 22 meeting being an adjourned meeting, the same ballot forms as were used for the July 19 meeting will be utilized for the August 22^nd meeting.
