Vancouver Lake Crew Boathouse Destroyed by Tornado,
Help Needed
January 12, 2008
From the Vancouver
Lake Crew:
At 12:24 pm on Thursday January 10th, 2008 a tornado touched down near
Vancouver Lake on top of the Vancouver Lake Erg house and rowing shells. The
EF1 tornado lifted the club's two buildings off of the ground and scattered
them over 300 feet away completely destroying the contents. All 18 training
ergs were destroyed along with all the equipment and supplies. Out of the
approximately 50 shells stored at the site only 3 survived the falling trees
and blowing debris. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment has been
destroyed.
Vancouver Lake Crew needs your support to continue the program. Donations of
money, boats, supplies, etc are all appreciated. An account has been set up at
Bank of Clark County for VLC. Donations can be sent to

Vancouver Lake Crew began in February 2002. It is a non-profit organization
dedicated to the development of the youth of Clark County. VLC offers
year-round rowing opportunities for rowers of all ages. We have adult
recreational and competitive rowing, a middle school and high school team,
summer boating camps. We outreach within the community and offer a "learn
to row" day for blind students at the WA School for the Blind. Rowing is a
great aerobic exercise, and is physically and mentally challenging.
