You are mistaken about the deception of the Title IX changes. The survey is to measure interest, but it will not be a school-wide email sent where students not answering the survey means there is no interest. The Department of Education has suggested, rather than email the student body, to require a interest survey be taken online before students register for classes. In this case, the interest should be properly measured. If girls are not expressing their interest through this survey then maybe the school should further investigate the issue. I am a female, Division I, Four-year Letterman and completely support the survey.

Subject: Deceptive Title IX changes?????Today's Boston Globe, page D6 has an article that may be in your papers, which has the possibility of affecting your daughters, granddaughters........"But the new criteria, which were posted March 18--with little publicity--on the Dept. of Education's website, permit schools to perodically utilize an e-mail survey of its student body to guage interest in women's sports. If the students display a lack of interest in the subject, or if they don't answer the survey, it could lead schools to conclude that they are complying with Title IX."I STRONGLY believe this has the potential to totally undermine the intent and success of sports for girls/women. Please speak up if you agree!!!!!!!Thanks,Mayrene
