Our national rowing results did make it to the Post Standard today in
the sports high school section page D9. Eagle Bulletin has been great
this season printing weekly on our regattas. Yesterday's issue covers
Syracuse Invitational. There should be one more article in the Eagle
Bulletin next week.-Lori

The weather at Saratoga this weekend was stunning -- so dry and warm
that Alice Wenner left her blue sweatshirt presumably somewhere near the
tent; it has a white "SYRACUSE" on the front.

If anyone has found it, please know Alice would be grateful to be
reunited.

It was nice to see so many parents this weekend, and our congratulations
to the shells heading off to nationals!

Mike:  I took this picture today with my new phone (I was just experimenting).  It was the hammock that the girls were using in the trailer.  Thought you could add it to the gallery.  Now I'm sorry I didn't take more!   Pam Deckard

Get your camera's ready! Take some great pictures of the team this
weekend at the NYSSRA Championships and bring your best to the FM
Crewsters meeting Monday night, May 14, in the High School Library at 7
pm. I'll post a "Photo of the Week" to the new FM Crew photo gallery.

Digital images will be easiest but I can scan prints as well.

Check out the new photo Gallery Site from the www.fmcrew.org home
page. click on "Gallery" in the top menu bar. The gallery site is
just beginning so new events (from prior seasons and this year) will be
added regularly.

For those parents who are still interested in going this weekend, but
don't have a hotel reservation yet, here is a great suggestion- The
Brand New Hampton Inn in Lake George-It is about 25 minutes from the
site, but it is really nice with a pool, bar, whirpool and more and
included is an awesome FREE breakfast(not just muffins & coffee!)! They
agreed to give us a special rate of $89/night or 2 families can share a
suite for $129. They didn't have many left as this is Mother's Day
weekend. The number is 518-668-4100 and be sure to ask for Cassandra
(Director of Sales).See you in Saratoga. Dave Marshall

Hello Everyone,
Novice parents Kate Kohler and Susan Geary are organizing the Breakfast
Concession at the Syracuse Chargers Invitational on Saturday, May 19.
We are looking for parents who are willing to bake/donate a breakfast
item -- muffins, coffee cake, breads (banana, etc.) -- that we could
package individually to sell at the concession. This is a great
fundraising opportunity for the FM Crewsters, and the first time a
breakfast-for-sale tent will be offered at the Syracuse Invitational.
Besides breakfast baked goods, we plan to sell coffee, breakfast
burritos, fruit-yogurt-granola cups, bagels and cream cheese. We'd
really love some help on this. A big crowd is expected at this regatta.
Please call either Kate (682-8415) or Susan (682-5140) if you'd like to
help by baking something to sell, setting up, working the tent, or even
if you have an idea for a hot-seller. (Keep in mind that our heating
sources are somewhat limited.) Thanks, everyone, this is a perfect
chance for us to make some money and to show that FM Crewsters are
First Class all the way!!

due to the long day of racing (probably 8 pm, but I will need to
confirm with Coach Dave C. on what the schedule will be). We have
planned a banquet style dinner which will be held at Carl R's Cafe.
This restaurant is right off exit 18 of the Northway. (the team is at
the Ramada, which is exit 19, only a mile or two away).

The menu is chicken parmesan, pasta, salad, garlic bread, ice cream
and soft drinks. The athlete's dinners will covered under their $100
fee. We welcome parents, friends and siblings to join us. The cost,
which includes tax and tip, is $15. Please reserve with Ellen
O'Leary (637-9199) by Wednesday evening.

The team will be having dinner at the Ramada Friday night (poolside
or outside, depending on weather). They will be having baked ziti,
bread and salad. Stop by and join us if you are there. There will
be a contribution cup, no need to reserve ahead of time.

Baked goods- thanks SO MUCH for all the wonderful baked goods that
have appeared at races so far. States is a long weekend and our
hungry kids will be grateful for whatever you can send. Label your
entries, they will be considered for the prestigious "Cookie Cup", to
be awarded at our year-end banquet!

A note on the $100 fee- we have a very large number of families who
have not paid. Just to clarify, this fee goes to cover all the food
at regattas, the year-end banquet, and restaurant dinners when
required on the road. It also helps defray the cost of ice ($$),
propane, and many of the other incidental costs the Crewsters incur
while supporting the team. We also feed our coaches and pay for
their rooms, along with bus drivers, when we travel. The $250 that
is paid to the school goes toward the coach salaries, transportation
costs(huge and rising), and many of the other big expenses of the
team. Suffice it to say that it is a very expensive sport, and it is
only partially funded by the school district. The school district
will tell us that our budget is pretty big as it is, and it is hard
to justify taking from academic programs to give more to crew. If
you have financial hardship and are unable to pay this fee, you need
to speak, with the assurance of complete confidentiality and privacy,
to our treasurer Beth Miller at 682-3717. Otherwise, we really do
need this fee as soon as possible.

Syracuse Invitational

This race (on May 19) grows bigger every year - it may be as many as
15 teams and all their supporters. We have an excellent opportunity
to raise money - the Syracuse Chargers have given FM the breakfast
concession. I am looking for someone to head this up. I will work
with you on it - but I would love to see a parent of a new rower who
would like to start learning the "ropes". Coffee will be a
guaranteed big seller and money maker. I am thinking we might be
able to make breakfast sandwiches (egg, ham and cheese on a roll).
You do the math, if we can sell something like that for $3, I see big
profits! Also if we can get some donations of coffee cake,
individually sliced and wrapped, that would be great. Give me a call
at 637-9199 with ideas for profitable items (must be in
the "breakfast"category).

A good sale can give us much needed funds for equipment our coaches
need. Thanks as always for all your hard work and support. Our
parents and their fantastic support of their team make us the envy of
most programs!

Give me a call
at 637-9199 with ideas for profitable items (must be in
the "breakfast"category ).

A good sale can give us much needed funds for equipment our coaches
need. Thanks as always for all your hard work and support. Our
parents and their fantastic support of their team make us the envy of
most programs!

Ellen

Hi everyone-

States

States is next weekend and I am making plans for the team dinner on
Saturday evening, May 12. It will be a late dinner, as it always is,
due to the long day of racing (probably 8 pm, but I will need to
confirm with Coach Dave C. on what the schedule will be). We have
planned a banquet style dinner which will be held at Carl R's Cafe.
