The school provides a uniform for use during the season. The school uniforms cost approx $55. The uniforms need to be returned. The school does not ever give a student in any sport a uniform to keep. (Booster Club sometimes does, though).
There seems to be a "cootie" issue in the minds of the kids and some parents due to the uniforms being tight fitting in certain areas, shall we say.
Last year, the varsity girls and Aaron made a decision to purchase a different uniform, made from a more expensive fabric. They (of course) are keeping those uniforms, as they bought them individually themselves. The school would have provided used uniforms free of charge for any student to use during the season. The school policy is that the student does not have to purchase a uniform. The school does feel that the uniforms can be washed and used by a different student the next year.
As the Crewsters will be handling uniforms, it is important to note the following-
There will be NO more ordering of different uniforms from the the design/fabric the school uses. This is very important, because at regattas, the uniforms of everyone in the boat are required to match. The ones the varsity girls used last year are close enough, but ALL future uniform orders will be for the identical uniform.
If a student wishes to own or be issued a new uniform, they will have the option of purchasing a uniform for the approx. cost of $55. But they will always have a used uniform available to them for the season at no cost.
All uniforms that have ever been purchased and issued by the school need to be collected. The school will not allow students to keep uniforms at no cost.
If a student is going to be on the team again this year, they can certainly use the same uniform they used last year.
If a student does not return an issued uniform that they did not purchase, a strict policy is going to be enforced of withholding report cards until either the uniform is returned or paid for.
It is better for the team financially if you are planning to hold onto a school-issued uniform, to purchase it upfront, because if you pay at the end, the money does not go to the crew budget, but rather to a general fund.
Thanks,
Ellen
