As promised, here (finally!) is the information for the 2009 Winter Training erg sessions.
I have attached a document (2009 Winter Ergometer.pdf) that outlines the program, associated costs, and how athletes should sign up. If anyone cannot open this file, please let me know. I will also post to the documents section of the Yahoo groups page. As you can see, the sign-up is this coming Thursday (January 8th) and Friday (January 9th) from 03:00-04:30 PM in the House One foyer. Along with folks from the Crewsters, I will try to be there to address any questions.
Before training begins, we have some clean-up to do at the space. Coach Scholz and I will be there this Saturday (January 10th) from 08:00-11:00 AM and would certainly welcome anyone willing to help. We have some vacuuming to do as well as moving some lockers around. In addition, if you are willing to let us use your ergometer, you can drop it off then. Please remember to mark BOTH HALVES of you machine!
Some additional information:
- There is no requirement that an athlete that chooses to participate on our program in the spring must enroll in winter training. The coaches would certainly encourage all to join, but understand time, other winter sports and monetary constraints. The coaches would suggest that if you are not currently training on your own, joining the program would be a worthwhile investment. This includes coxswains!
- We may (based on numbers) be forced to put a limit on the size of the program based on the number of ergs and how many athletes Coach Garofalo, Coach Scholz and I can effectively coach at one time. We will not be using a limiting number again this year but it may be necessary to move novice athletes to a novice-specific program that is currently being organized and will start in late January.
- While participation in the program is not mandatory, your attendance if you chose to participate is. We had a number of athletes last year sign up but only attend certain sessions. You are expected to attend just like during the regular season and any absences should be addressed with your coach.
As always, if there are any questions please let me know.
