RE: Volunteer to Head Carwash
Dear Fellow Crewsters:
During each of the 3 years which the F- M Crew program has existed
the Crewsters have raised money by selling car wash tickets for the
Mobil carwash in Fayetteville.
The fundraiser was initiated by Crewsters Founders Club members Andy
& Ann Madsen.
The ticket were sold in both the fall & the spring of each year. The
tickets were sold for $5.00 and the Crewsters were able to keep $4.00
which yielded a profit of $2,000+/- each fall and another like sum
in the spring. The $4,000+/- profit was paid into the Crewsters
general account and used to defray operating expenses assumed by the
Crewsters.
If the Crewsters are going to have the carwash again this fall we
need to get moving quickly. If anyone desires to Chair or Co- Chair
this fundraiser then they should contact me by telephone or e-mail
before Thursday September 15th.
On an unrelated matter there will be a general Crewster meeting held
sometime next month. I will notify you later of the date, time and
place. At that meeting we will discuss developments since our last
meeting. I will also appoint a Nominating Committee to propose a
slate of new officers for the coming season. From conversations I
have had I expect many of last years officers to decline re-
nomination which will make it important that new people step forward.
Collectively we, the members of the Crewsters, should be proud of
the accomplishments which the F- M Crewsters over the past 3
seasons. People should understand that the fact that there even is a
crew program is attributable to hard work of a number of Crewster
families. During the past 3 seasons some senior administrators at
the F- M High School have expressed a belief that Crew was a fad
that would fade at F- M High School over time. I believe that with
your continued support the sport of rowing will continue to grow at
F- M High School and benefit its students. Thank you for your
continues assistance and cooperation.
Best wishes.
