Hey Velodrome Supporters!
The Tour de Fat rolls in Saturday September 6, and is predicted to be
an 8000+ rider parade like no other. Volunteering through
BikeFortCollins helps NBB pull the event off, and benefits BikeFort
Collins, the local advocacy group for cycling. They need 200
volunteers and most volunteers can ride the parade as well. It is a
blast! You can visit the NBB site to learn more about the event, but
please visit

to register as a volunteer today.
We WILL be chartering a private bus for the US Collegiate Track
Nationals on Saturday September 13, with a departure of around 3 PM
from Downtown Fort Collins, to arrive in Colorado Springs in time for
the Men's Team Pursuit, Women's Sprint, and Men's Points Finals, and
Awards for Team and Individual Omnium. The Rams will be on the podium!
We should be back in the Fort by 11:30 or so. What we need right now
is to hear from you if you plan to ride the bus. Prices will be
subsidized, so CSU students can ride for $10 and others for $ 20 round
trip. Because it is a private charter, you may bring a picnic basket
and beverages of your choice for the ride. A cooler with ice will be
on board. Once in Memorial Park and the 7Eleven Velodrome, picnic
baskets are OK but alcohol is prohibited. There also may be some food
items for sale there. Please e mail to tim@... or call me
at 484-3297(PM) to reserve a spot. I have to decide on bus size soon.
One more note. Jeff Morrell thinks we will be able to get permission
to do a Fall practice track racing series at the Oval beginning in
late September for six Sundays. I was hoping for a weekday like
Wednesday, but that is unlikely. Jason will have Cross races on
Thursdays at New Belgium, and our track series will most likely be
Sundays. If you haven't converted a roadbike to fixed yet, or invested
in a real track bike, now's a good time. We hope to see the
fixed/track participants numbers growing, and will also have road bike
categories. It will be less structured than the 6 Day Races and entry
fee will only $6. See you soon! Tim Anderson
